Millennials Are Angry

And here's why.

When looking at the recent trend, it is clear that Baby Boomers typically dislike Millennials. Baby Boomers call those in their teens, 20's and early 30's entitled, selfish, and even coined the nickname the "I" generation to describe millennials. Baby Boomers say millennials are entitled because they were all given participation trophies, but who gave them the trophies?

Why would baby boomers want to critique and bash the generation they raised?

For starters, their jealously is almost transparent. Millennials grew up in the epitome of technology. Raised on computer games and google, information is at the touch of a button for Millennials. Knowledge is expanding everyday due to easier access. New technology is rising everyday, making life easier as we can look up recipes, directions and other information quickly.

Although it may seem millennials have it all, it is quite the opposite.

Most Millennials go to school full time. They also maintain jobs and extra curricular activities while completing unpaid internships. Unpaid internships are common for college students, as it is quite difficult to get a job in today's workforce. Those who have finished college or, decided the debt was not worth the outcome, are working full time for little pay. Entry level jobs are no longer entry level, and now require years of experience. Millennials are going into debt for college degrees that were thought to be valuable, but left them jobless. Millennials grew up in complete chaos, living to witness 9/11 and the economic and housing recession. Millennials were born to be let down and in return they are angry.

Though they have experienced hardships, millennials do not want pity from baby boomers. Millennials are hard workers and they know it. They also know that the price for college has increased while the minimum wage in most states has stayed the same. Millennials know they are not guaranteed health care once finding a stable job (if they are ever able find a stable job). Millennials realize the cost of living is higher than ever before, even when taking in account of inflation. Millennials know that social security will most likely not exist once they reach their 60's. These simple facts are why millennials are angry. Do not pity millennials, instead have empathy. Understand why they are angry and respect it. It is clear baby boomers would be angry too. Fight for millennials, stick beside the children you raised. Fight for their rights and do not underestimate them with petty insults. Millennials are not lazy, nor entitled. They are angry.

11 Things Summer Nannies Can Relate To

There are plenty of obstacles that come when taking care of kids, but it's a very rewarding experience.

As a college student, being a nanny over the summer is both enjoyable and challenging. Underneath the seemingly perfect trips to the pool or countless hours spent playing Monopoly are the obstacles that only nannies will understand. Trading in your valuable summer vacation in return for three months spent with a few children less than half your age may seem unappealing, but so many moments make it rewarding. For my fellow summer nannies out there, I know you can relate.

There are a lot of really easy, common names in the U.S. and while many of those simple names have different spellings, most of the time, pronunciation is not an issue that those people need to worry about. However, others are not as fortunate and often times give up on corrections after a while. We usually give an A+ for effort. So, as you could probably imagine, there are a few struggles with having a name that isn’t technically English. Here are just a few…

Daydreaming

day·dream (ˈdāˌdrēm/): a series of pleasant thoughts that distract one's attention from the present.

Daydreams, the savior of our life in class. Every type of student in the classroom does it at least once, but most cases it is an everyday event, especially in that boring class -- you know the one. But what are we thinking while we are daydreaming?

Puerto Ricans. They are very proud people and whether they were born on the island or born in the United States by Puerto Rican parent(s). It gets even better when they meet another fellow Puerto Rican or Latino in general. You’ll know quickly if they are Puerto Rican whether the flag is printed somewhere on their person or whether they tell you or whether the famous phrase “wepa!” is said.
