It's safe to say that, when it comes to millennials and dating, it's pure garbage 75% of the time. It's without a doubt terrible in comparison to other generations— like our grandparents or even parents, for that matter. Somewhere along the way, standards were lowered and respect was lost. It's seriously so pathetic. I could go on for days and days.
Sure, great things take time and the best things happen when least expected. But until that day when you find someone that changes your perspective on everything, it's a major struggle out there in the dating world, especially as a millennial woman.
In no particular order, here are the realities of dating from a millennial woman's perspective, as told by the one and only— Mia Thermopolis, the Queen of Genovia:
You never let him see you without your eyebrows looking fleeky.
When he texts you something so off the wall you can't help but freak out...
When you and your friend have feelings and the world already knows it, except for you two.
You think you're going crazy because your emotions become so bipolar...
You wish you can say this to his face but in actuality, don't... and won't.
When you see someone eyeing or flirting with your man, sometimes you just have to remind her to stay in her lane...
Out of nowhere, he suddenly ghosts you and it makes you more sad than you think.
When you send a risky message and the response time seems 1,000x longer than what it actually is...
You are guilty of allowing all those rom-coms to set your expectations way too high.
Sometimes you hit rock bottom and lose all faith in dating and relationships.
When he does something so stupid it immediately triggers you to the point you wish you could hit him.
When he thinks you're way too invested that "it's weird" and you're left with no choice but calling him out.
You go to your dad/brother/best guy friend and they always know what to say.
You're always ready to slay, whether you're committed to someone or venturing for someone new.
But at the end of the day, the best medicine no matter your situation, is dancing and having fun with your girls.
