Ever since Miley Cyrus' breakup with ex-fiance Liam Hemsworth, she has not been the same. During concerts, she wore close to no clothing. She danced with giant inflatables shaped like penises. She made drug references in her songs. She further broke down her feelings in her hit song "Wrecking Ball" while swinging from an actual wrecking ball naked. She later takes a hiatus from the spotlight and then decides to come back as an innocent country singing lamb. She is welcomed into the spotlight with open arms. This I can accept but her reasoning for her behavior in an interview is what made me sick. Here are her exact words.

"She did, and I grew up with her. I also love that new Kendrick [Lamar] song ['Humble']: 'Show me somethin’ natural like ass with some stretch marks.' I love that because it’s not, 'Come sit on my d-ck, suck on my c-ck.' I can’t listen to that anymore. That’s what pushed me out of the hip-hop scene a little. It was too much, 'Lamborghini, got my Rolex, got a girl on my c-ck.' I am so not that."

According to this picture, yes she was that. Is she trying to blame hip-hop for her inappropriate actions? Hip-hop has been known to induce overly sexual behavior but behavior like this is extraordinary. Hip-hop culture did not force, nor influence you to suck an inflatable penis. She was the same person twerking on Robin Thicke. Blame the weed and alcohol but I and black Twitter will not let you try and blame hip-hop.

It's so confusing to me how quickly people embraced her and forgot how she used to dress. All they needed was something to blame her inappropriate behavior on and the arrow landed on black culture. I'm happy she is sober, but what part of her twelve-steps was there a step where she relinquishes responsibility for her actions? Every nasty thing she did on stage was the fault of Miley Cyrus.

This reminds me of the Britney Spears breakdown of 2007. She shaved her head and was mentally unstable for a while. What I like about Britney Spears' comeback to music was that she had some good songs to jump start her career again. Britney Spears also didn't blame the changes she was going through on anything else. At the end of the day you can leave hip-hop to make country music but don't act like hip-hop is this negative energy that forced you to act the way you did for all those years.

People are backing her up, giving her interviews and all this other positive crap because she has Billy Ray Cyrus backing her up. I see right through the act she is trying to pull and I guarantee she will step on country music to save her image soon enough.

Today I started my third week of college at Minnesota State Moorhead. I have survived welcome week, finding my classes on the first day, and being an awkward loner in the dining hall. Even though I have yet to be here for a month, I have already experienced many thoughts and problems that only a new college student can relate to.

"Make sure to get involved when you're in college!"

We've all heard some variation of this phrase, whether it came from parents, other family members, friends, RAs, or college-related articles. And, like many clichés, it's true for the most part. Getting involved during your college years can help you make friends, build your resume, and feel connected to your campus. However, these commitments can get stressful if you're dealing with personal issues, need to work, or aren't sure how to balance classes and everything else going on during the semester.

In college, one of the essential things to have is friends. Yes, textbooks, a laptop, and other school supplies are important but friends are essential. Friends are that support system everybody needs. The more friends you have the better the support system you have. But you also have someone to share experiences with. And don’t settle for just one or two friends because 8 out of 10 times they are busy and you are studying all alone. Or they have other friend groups that do not include you. Don’t settle for just one or two friends; make as many friends as you can. After the first couple of weeks of college, most friend groups are set and you may be without friends.

For a moment your world is spinning. The phone alarm has just scared you awake and you’re flooded by daunting thoughts of the day ahead. You have three assignments due and little time to work on them because of your job. You’re running late because you’ve hit snooze one to many times after yesterday’s long hours. Finals week is upon us. It is a magical time of year during which college students everywhere flock to the library in attempt to learn a semester's worth of knowledge in only a week. For some students, it's their first time in the library all semester, maybe ever. Others have slaved away many nights under the fluorescent lights, and are slightly annoyed to find their study space being invaded by amateurs. While these newbies wander aimlessly around the first floor, hopelessly trying to find a table, the OGs of the library are already on the third floor long tables deep into their studies. Here is a few signs that you may live in the library, whether you'd like to admit it or not.
