Mighty Max

Mighty Max really is a hometown hero bringing his small community of Galax, Virginia, together. No, I'm not talking about Batman. However, Batman is a hero in his own right and you can find more about him here. Max is a young boy who was diagnosed with acute lymphoblastic leukemia in January. His Facebook page, Mighty Max, currently sits at over 8,000 likes. As of the 2010 census, his hometown of Galax has a population of barely over 7,000. That shows how many people are being touched by this brave boy's battle.

He is currently undergoing chemo treatments and his prognosis looks good so far. Max is becoming a real champ at handling his treatments, and the updates show how brave he really is.

Mighty Max is a hero who is not afraid to show a smile.

From reunion concerts in Max's honor, to an "American Ninja Warrior" competitor running in his honor, and articles like this one, Max's story is inspiring many and warming even more hearts. Max has inspired people to donate blood to raise money for cancer research and treatment.

One of the most heartwarming moments was where his mother dressed up to chaperone a high-school prom that she sponsors, and Max made his family turn on "Cinderella" so that he could dance with a princess, his mom.

Max has been able to make an incredible impact on his family, friends, community, and even farther. His family has gained support from all around. His mother works for the local high school and is beloved by her coworkers and students. His father, grandfather, and many other family members are members of the local police force and have spent their lives looking out for us. It is finally time that the community was able to come together and offer support, thoughts, and prayers to help this extremely deserving family in their time of need.

Max is a fighter and a hero. Qualities he most certainly inherited. His sister is also a hero for being the best big sister Max could ask for and looking out for her little brother. Max has remained in good spirits, and that is something to admire. You can read more about him on his Facebook page, Mighty Max.

As children, we are brave in ways we tend to forget. Let us look to Max to remember what being brave really means.

In honor of Mother’s Day, I have been thinking of all the things my mom does for my family and me. Although I couldn’t write nearly all of them, here are a few things that moms do for us.

They find that shirt that’s right in front of you, but just you can’t seem to find.

10 Reasons To Thank Your Best Friend

Take the time to thank that one friend in your life you will never let go of.

Thank You on wooden blocks

1. Thank you for being the one I can always count on to be honest.

A true friend will tell you if the shirt is ugly, or at least ask to borrow it and "accidentally" burn it.

2. Thank you for accepting me for who I am.

A best friend will love you regardless of the stale french fries you left on the floor of your car, or when you had lice in 8th grade and no one wanted to talk to you.

Do as I say, not as I do.

Your eyes widen in horror as you stare at your phone. Beads of sweat begin to saturate your palm as your fingers tremble in fear. The illuminated screen reads, "Missed Call: Mom."

Growing up with strict parents, you learn that a few things go unsaid. Manners are everything. Never talk back. Do as you're told without question. Most importantly, you develop a system and catch on to these quirks that strict parents have so that you can play their game and do what you want.

"Friends" maybe didn’t have everything right or realistic all the time, but they did have enough episodes to create countless reaction GIFs and enough awesomeness to create, well, the legacy they did. Something else that is timeless, a little rough, but memorable? Living away from the comforts of home. Whether you have an apartment, a dorm, your first house, or some sort of residence that is not the house you grew up in, I’m sure you can relate to most of these!
