6 Times 'Gilmore Girls'  Explained Exactly How You're Feeling During Midterms

The time that every college student must face at least twice a year has come: exam and paper season. Weeks go by and you're just coasting through life, running on zero sleep, and excessive amounts of caffeine. You had midterms last week, and you thought you were done, right? Well, WRONG! What about those six papers you have due over the course of two days? How will you ever survive? We suck it up and go on with our treacherous lives because emotional pain is temporary but GPA is forever. Here are five "Gilmore Girls" GIFs that show that we aren't in this alone: television characters experience our pain too.

1. When "messy" becomes the new "chic"

I know, I know. It's not finals yet, but what you feel during midterm season is pretty darn close to the existential dread you will feel during finals. Usually, you care about looking nice, or at least clean, when you go to class, but now there is no time for that. You haven't washed your hair in days so it just lays on your head like a bird's nest, that over-sized hoodie has become your uniform, and you're wearing zero makeup. You look like a slob, and you know it, but you really don't have time to care.

2. When coffee becomes the only thing keeping your life together

It's only 2 p.m. but you've ordered your ninth cup of coffee for the day and the Starbucks barista doesn't even question it. Your debit card is crying, but you tell it to "hush" because you don't care how much money you spend, you need COFFEE, COFFEE, COFFEE!

3. When you have one hour until your ten-page paper is due and your friend tries to talk to you

You love your friends, and typically, you want nothing more but to hang out and listen to them rant about the boys that broke their hearts this week, but JESUS, CAN YOU NOT SEE THAT I'M ONLY ON PAGE FIVE OF TEN, I HAVE AN HOUR LEFT TO TURN THIS PAPER IN, AND I'M TRYING TO PULL WORDS OUT OF MY BUTT RIGHT NOW, so please, shut up. You can tell me about how much of a jerk Mark is tomorrow.

4. When you've only slept four hours in the passed four days

You're exhausted. Your body is giving out. It's becoming difficult to stay awake, no matter how much coffee you've drunk, but there is no way you can risk sleeping for more than an hour if you're trying to re-read all of "Paradise Lost" before your midterm tomorrow. Oh, and don't forget, you have a presentation on Hitchcock's perverse ethics due tomorrow too.

5. When you procrastinated on studying by doing other assignments so now you're pulling another all-nighter

This is what? The fourth all-nighter you've pulled this week? You get distracted when you try studying during the day, so you decide that doing other assignments is still productive and put off the dreadful Gertrude Stein a little bit longer, until night time comes around and you still haven't reviewed "The Gentle Lena". It's 4 a.m., your brain is fried, and you start to hysterically cry... and laugh... at the same time. You consider the fact that you may have lost your mind, but you suck it up, and force yourself to keep studying.

6. When the thought of dropping-out and following a "humble" career path crosses your mind

Who needs school, right? You can be happy working a minimum-wage job if it means you never have to study for an exam again. Although you're not actually going to call it quits and move back home, you romanticize the idea of it. The thought that you can just quit but won't because you're stronger than that is somehow comforting.

Although the midterm season is absolutely abysmal, it doesn't last forever. It's okay to hate your life for a few weeks: you'll come out stronger in the end! Happy studying, friends!

Today I started my third week of college at Minnesota State Moorhead. I have survived welcome week, finding my classes on the first day, and being an awkward loner in the dining hall. Even though I have yet to be here for a month, I have already experienced many thoughts and problems that only a new college student can relate to.

"Make sure to get involved when you're in college!"

We've all heard some variation of this phrase, whether it came from parents, other family members, friends, RAs, or college-related articles. And, like many clichés, it's true for the most part. Getting involved during your college years can help you make friends, build your resume, and feel connected to your campus. However, these commitments can get stressful if you're dealing with personal issues, need to work, or aren't sure how to balance classes and everything else going on during the semester.

In college, one of the essential things to have is friends. Yes, textbooks, a laptop, and other school supplies are important but friends are essential. Friends are that support system everybody needs. The more friends you have the better the support system you have. But you also have someone to share experiences with. And don’t settle for just one or two friends because 8 out of 10 times they are busy and you are studying all alone. Or they have other friend groups that do not include you. Don’t settle for just one or two friends; make as many friends as you can. After the first couple of weeks of college, most friend groups are set and you may be without friends.

For a moment your world is spinning. The phone alarm has just scared you awake and you’re flooded by daunting thoughts of the day ahead. You have three assignments due and little time to work on them because of your job. You’re running late because you’ve hit snooze one to many times after yesterday’s long hours. You dizzily reach for a hoodie, craving its comfort, and rush for a speedy exit, praying you will have time to pick up coffee. Does this sound familiar?

Finals week is upon us. It is a magical time of year during which college students everywhere flock to the library in attempt to learn a semester's worth of knowledge in only a week. For some students, it's their first time in the library all semester, maybe ever. Others have slaved away many nights under the fluorescent lights, and are slightly annoyed to find their study space being invaded by amateurs. While these newbies wander aimlessly around the first floor, hopelessly trying to find a table, the OGs of the library are already on the third floor long tables deep into their studies.
