Midterms are essentially a preview of what's to come, finals. For freshmen, this can be an extremely difficult transition from high school. There's a couple of really helpful tips that I've found to help me when I'm super stressed.
Make Lists.
I'm a list person, so making to-do lists and planning out what and when I need to do everything helps to calm me. You need to do what helps you. If you like making lists and reminders in your phone, then do that. If your planner works best for you, then do that.
Take care of yourself.
No, but seriously. Exercise is an important part of maintaining a healthy lifestyle. And that looks different for everyone, whether it's running marathons for taking a mile walk every day. Do what makes you feel good. Taking care of yourself also includes eating healthy. This can be hard in a residence hall setting, but seriously. Try to eat less bread and more fruits and vegetables.
Mental health
This is a big one. You are the only one that can check in to see how you are doing. If you're not doing okay, schedule an appointment with the on-campus health center. I'm willing to bet that they have therapists there that can help you. If you need the help or even want it then go schedule it. Mental health during stressful times is extremely important to your physical and mental well-being.
Have fun.
This doesn't necessarily mean 'Make homework fun!', no. Make time to go do something that makes you happy. If this means going to a pumpkin patch with some of your friends, then make the time. It's important to have a balance in life. Especially between school and fun. Make time to go off campus and get Panera with one of your friends. Or take a break and go hammocking for an hour and bring a book to read. Do want makes you happy.
