Midterms, As Told By NBC's "The Office"

Who knew a paper company in Scranton, PA could relate to the typical college student?

Welcome week has come and gone, and syllabus week feels like a distant memory. Now, college students everywhere have to face an overload of assignments, tests, and projects that seem to have come out of nowhere. Some call it the end of the world (OK, maybe that's just me), others call it the one name that makes every student cringe at the mere sound of it: midterms. While the experience is less than pleasant, take comfort in knowing that students nationwide are feeling your pain right now. And, though none of us may have time to binge-watch The Office on Netflix like we want to, there are some moments when the show described exactly how we college students handle our midterm struggle.

Checking your course calendar and the word MIDTERMS is all over this week.

Asking a TA for help when you know you should've gone to group study.

When you've read the same paragraph twice and still don't understand.

That one professor who refuses to curve his exams.

Finding any and every distraction to avoid studying.

When it's Thirsty Thursday but you have an exam Friday morning.

Waking up at 5 am to study for said exam.

Knowing the answer to the first question and feeling like a boss.

But then realizing you have no clue how to answer the next three.

The one student who walks in late and distracts everyone.

Walking out of the exam feeling like you blacked out.

But then you realize this means midterms are finally over.

Celebrating because you (finally) have a life again.

Students nationwide, rejoice. While midterms may be sucking the life out of you, each paper, quiz, and exam brings you closer to the end of the quarter.... Which means winter break is near.

7 Ways to Make Your Language More Transgender and Nonbinary Inclusive

With more people becoming aware of transgender and non-binary people, there have been a lot of questions circulating online and elsewhere about how to be more inclusive. Language is very important in making a space safer for trans and non-binary individuals. With language, there is an established and built-in measure of whether a place could be safe or unsafe. If the wrong language is used, the place is unsafe and shows a lack of education on trans and non-binary issues. With the right language and education, there can be more safe spaces for trans and non-binary people to exist without feeling the need to hide their identities or feel threatened for merely existing.

Cambio

Singing is something I do all day, every day. It doesn't matter where I am or who's around. If I feel like singing, I'm going to. It's probably annoying sometimes, but I don't care -- I love to sing! If I'm not singing, I'm probably humming, sometimes without even realizing it. So as someone who loves to sing, these are some of the feelings and thoughts I have probably almost every day.
