Midterm Week, As Told By Schmidt From New Girl

It has hit that point of the semester where professors have started throwing exam dates in our faces. Everything is starting to pile up and we wonder how we will ever get it all done. But before we all hunker down to bury our noses in books, and lose our eyesight because we have been staring at our laptop screens for too long, I figured I could explain Midterm Week with the help of Schmidt for those who may not understand the pain that is, midterms.

Sunday, Pre-Exams:

When every person you see or hear from asks you if you are ready for your exam. I'm a college student, of course I'm not ready and you're just reminding me how unprepared I am. This question stresses you out even if you are ready, so why ask?

Monday:

The day usually starts with rolling out of bed, doing some last minute studying, and hopefully feeling at least 20% prepared to face your impending doom. This is the day where you pump yourself up, hoping that it will help. It doesn't have to be the worst day of exam week. Maybe by some miracle you'll actually do well.

Tuesday:

At this point in the week you are on a roll. You haven't gotten your exam grade back from Monday yet, you panic that you failed for a moment, but now you believe you probably aced it. You are ready to take on the world!

Wednesday:

The day you realize that you probably didn't crush it, because today you had your hardest exam. You're convinced that you're going to flunk out of college and you all you want to do is die.

Thursday:

The week only gets worse from here. More exams, more coffee, and more sleepless nights. But on the bright side, it's almost over. You can finally start seeing the light on the other side. You just need to make it through this last couple of exams.

Friday:

YOU DID IT! You made it through your last exam. You can still feel the residue feeling of failure, but it's over. Now it is time for you and your friends to be filled with joy and make some plans for that long overdue hang out session. Or go to that really great party on campus. Or maybe you can reward yourself with Netflix and junk food.

Saturday:

Now that it's over, it is time to relax and enjoy your weekend. The End has come and it has never been more peaceful. Enjoy this time before you get your grades back.

In all honesty, I'm sure your exams will go beautifully and you will do well. Study hard! You will crush your exams all day, and when the exams ask you what you are doing, you tell them that you are crushing them! Good Luck and may the curve be ever in your favor!

New year, new semester, not the same old thing. This semester will be a semester to redeem all the mistakes made in the previous five months.

1. I will wake up (sorta) on time for class.

Let's face it, last semester you woke up with enough time to brush your teeth and get to class and even then you were about 10 minutes late and rollin' in with some pretty unfortunate bed head. This semester we will set our alarms, wake up with time to get ready, and get to class on time!

For those long nights that turn into mornings when the struggle is real.

And so it begins.

1. Walk in motivated and ready to rock

Camping out at the library is not for the faint of heart. You need to go in as a warrior. You usually have brought supplies (laptop, chargers, and textbooks) and sustenance (water, snacks, and blanket/sweatpants) since the battle will be for an undetermined length of time. Perhaps it is one assignment or perhaps it's four. You are motivated and prepared; you don’t doubt the assignment(s) will take time, but you know it couldn’t be that long.

December... it's full of finals, due dates, Mariah Carey, and the holidays. It's the worst time of the year, but the best because after finals, you get to not think about classes for a month and catch up on all the sleep you lost throughout the semester. But what's worse than finals week is the last week of classes, when all the due dates you've put off can no longer be put off anymore.

Thanksgiving break is over and Christmas is just around the corner and that means, for most college students, one hellish thing — finals week. It's the one time of year in which the library becomes over populated and mental breakdowns are most frequent. There is no way to avoid it or a cure for the pain that it brings. All we can do is hunker down with our books, order some Dominos, and pray that it will all be over soon. Luckily, we are not alone in this suffering. To prove it, here are just a few of the many deranged thoughts that go through a college student's mind during finals week.

I know every college student has daily thoughts throughout their day. Whether you're walking on campus or attending class, we always have thoughts running a mile a minute through our heads. We may be wondering why we even showed up to class because we'd rather be sleeping, or when the professor announces that we have a test and you have an immediate panic attack.
