Midterm Elections Are Important, Too

Right now many people are already thinking ahead to 2020. Some may be thinking "I wonder who is going to be running against Trump?" But there are also some people that are working to make sure that Trump gets elected for another term.

While, yes, we should be worrying about 2020, we should also be worrying about the upcoming midterm elections.

I know what you are thinking "But those are the small elections, they don't really matter."

Well, I am here to tell you that, actually, it does matter because these elections determine who runs the state, like the new governor, senators, all of the seats in the House of Representatives, as well as many city mayors are all up for reelection this year.

If you're 18 or older and not registered to vote yet, then get on it! Elections are in November, and every vote matters. Every process is different, so I included a few links down below if you want to know how your state does things during these elections.

If you are registered to vote then get out there, and do it! You may think your vote doesn't matter, but it really does make all of the difference. It can determine not only the future of the state but the future of this country as well.

If you aren't sure who to vote for go on "I Side With," a website resource where you take a quiz about issues that you think should be resolved, and they will match you with a candidate that also agrees with what you agree with.

If you want to vote but won't be in your voting area at the time of the election, then you can fill out an absentee ballot; this takes two minutes to fill out, and you need to mail it no earlier than 90 days before the election but no later than five days.

Happy voting everyone! Whoever you vote for, don't forget to make it count!

Sorority
Rebekah Lee

I remember my freshman year oh so well. I remember feeling terrified the night before orientation. The one thing that I dreaded the most was not the new people, the new environment, or even the academic pressure. I was dreading having to talk to sorority girls about Recruitment. I remember cutting off and avoiding any Rho Gamma/Panhellenic Officer that came my way during First Week. I looked at them like they had asked me to cut my arm off whenever they asked me if I wanted to rush. To be honest, I did not even know what rush was, but I knew that I did NOT want to be a part of it. To me, it was dumb. It was a waste of money. It was a waste of my time.

And guess what? I did not rush my freshman year. I spent the first half of my freshman year isolating myself from everyone on campus. I spent all of my time in the library, and then (since I was a commuter) went back home once my work was finished.

Tiana would no doubt be disappointed in the food our cafeteria has to offer.

And hopefully she would cook for everyone in her dorm.

She definitley would not take any 8:00 am classes because she would be up late baking and cleaning up the communal kitchen that are available in every dorm.
