No heartbreak is easy, especially when you’re in 6th grade and have no clue how to cope with your feelings towards the guy that only wrote “HAGS” in your yearbook or the girl who dumped you over a sticky note in math class. As middle schoolers in love, we felt a connection to the songs that expressed our heartbreak, even though we didn’t understand what the hell we were singing about until later on down the road.

If you can remember the days back to when you purchased songs with an iTunes gift card to load onto your iPod Shuffle, then you may recall some of these monumental lyrics that helped mend your broken heart during "the worst breakup of your life.”

1. JoJo: "Leave (Get out)"

Lyrics that hit you where it hurt:
Cause I know

About her (who) and I wonder (why)
How I bought all the lies
You said that you would treat me right
But you was just a waste of time

2. Avril Lavigne: "My Happy Ending"

Lyrics that hit you where it hurt:
And all of the memories, so close to me, just fade away

All this time you were pretending
So much for my happy ending

3. Green Day: "Wake Me Up When September Ends"

Lyrics that hit you where it hurt:
Summer has come and passed

The innocent can never last
Wake me up when September ends

4. Mariah Carey: "We Belong Together"

Lyrics that hit you where it hurt:
Baby, when you left I lost a part of me
It's still so hard to believe
Come back baby please
‘Cause we belong together

5. Alicia Keys: "No One"

Lyrics that hit you where it hurt:
You and me together
Through the days and nights
I don't worry 'cause
Everything's going to be alright
People keep talking they can say what they like
But all I know is everything's going to be alright

6. Ne-Yo: "So Sick"

Lyrics that hit you where it hurt:
And I'm so sick of love songs, so tired of tears

So done with wishing you were still here
Said I'm so sick of love songs, so sad and slow
So why can't I turn off the radio?

7. Leona Lewis: "Bleeding Love"

Lyrics that hit you where it hurt:
But I don't care what they say
I'm in love with you
They try to pull me away, but they don't know the truth

8. Miley Cyrus: "7 Things"

Lyrics that hit you where it hurt:
The 7 things I hate about you
You're vain, your games, you're insecure
You love me, you like her
You make me laugh, you make me cry
I don't know which side to buy

9. Kelly Clarkson: "Since U Been Gone"

Lyrics that hit you where it hurt:
How can I put it? You put me on
I even fell for that stupid love song
Yeah, yeah
Since you been gone
How come I've never heard you say
I just want to be with you?
Guess you never felt that way

10. Taylor Swift: "You Belong With Me"

Lyrics that hit you where it hurt:
But she wears short skirts
I wear T-shirts
She's cheer captain
And I'm on the bleachers
Dreaming about the day when you wake up
And find that what you're looking for has been here the whole time

11. Carrie Underwood: "Before He Cheats"

Lyrics that hit you where it hurt:
I dug my key into the side
Of his pretty little souped-up four-wheel drive
Carved my name into his leather seats

12. Adele: "Someone Like You"

Lyrics that hit you where it hurt:
I heard, that you're settled down
That you found a girl and you're, married now
I heard, that your dreams came true
I guess she gave you things
I didn't give to you

13. Fall Out Boy: "Thnks fr th Mmrs"

Lyrics that hit you where it hurt:
One night and one more time
Thanks for the memories even though they weren't so great
He tastes like you, only sweeter

14. Rihanna: "Take a Bow"

Lyrics that hit you where it hurt:
But you put on quite a show
You really had me goin'
But now it's time to go
Curtains finally closin'
That was quite a show
Very entertaining
But it's over now
Go on and take a bow

One minute, it's love
And, suddenly, it's like a battlefield

18. Katy Perry: "The One That Got Away"

Lyrics that hit you where it hurt:
In another life, I would be your girl
We'd keep all our promises, be us against the world
In another life, I would make you stay
So I don't have to say you were the one that got away

19. Fergie: "Big Girls Don't Cry"

Lyrics that hit you where it hurt:
And I'm gonna miss you like a child misses their blanket
But I've got to get a move on with my life
It's time to be a big girl now
And big girls don't cry

20. Beyonce: "Best Thing I Never Had"

Lyrics that hit you where it hurt:
Boy I must've been outta my mind
So when I think of the time that I almost loved you
You showed your ass and I, I saw the real you

21. Cher Lloyd: "Want U Back"

Lyrics that hit you where it hurt:
Remember all the things that you and I did first?
And now you're doing them with her?
And now you're taking her to every restaurant
And everywhere we went, come on!

22. Demi Lovato: "Really Don't Care"

Lyrics that hit you where it hurt:

I never want you back into my life
You can take your words and all your lies
Oh oh oh I really don't care

23. Shontelle: "Impossible"

Lyrics that hit you where it hurt:

And my heart is broken
All my scars are open
Tell them what I hoped would be
Impossible, impossible
Impossible, impossible

24. High School Musical: "Gotta Go My Own Way"

I've got to move on and be home I am
I just don't belong here
I hope you understand
We might find our place in this world someday
But at least for now
I gotta go my own way

25. Sara Bareilles: "Love Song"

Lyrics that hit you where it hurt:
I'm not gonna write you a love song
'cause you asked for it
'cause you need one, you see
I'm not gonna write you a love song
'cause you tell me it's
Make or breaking this
If you're on your way
I'm not gonna write you to stay

Looking back at it all now, you wish you could tell your melodramatic 6th-grade self that those heartbreaks were just the tip of the iceberg for the bullshit you would deal with later on in life. And now you can look at yourself years later, and know that these songs are still relevant for your breakup playlist, except for this time, maybe you can actually relate to them.

I know every college student has daily thoughts throughout their day. Whether you're walking on campus or attending class, we always have thoughts running a mile a minute through our heads. We may be wondering why we even showed up to class because we'd rather be sleeping, or when the professor announces that we have a test and you have an immediate panic attack.

The Great Christmas Movie Debate

"A Christmas Story" is the star on top of the tree.

The Great Christmas Movie Debate
Mental Floss

One staple of the Christmas season is sitting around the television watching a Christmas movie with family and friends. But of the seemingly hundreds of movies, which one is the star on the tree? Some share stories of Santa to children ("Santa Claus Is Coming to Town"), others want to spread the Christmas joy to adults ("It's a Wonderful Life"), and a select few are made to get laughs ("Elf"). All good movies, but merely ornaments on the Christmas tree of the best movies. What tops the tree is a movie that bridges the gap between these three movies, and makes it a great watch for anyone who chooses to watch it. Enter the timeless Christmas classic, "A Christmas Story." Created in 1983, this movie holds the tradition of capturing both young and old eyes for 24 straight hours on its Christmas Day marathon. It gets the most coverage out of all holiday movies, but the sheer amount of times it's on television does not make it the greatest. Why is it,
then? A Christmas Story does not try to tell the tale of a Christmas miracle or use Christmas magic to move the story. What it does do though is tell the real story of Christmas. It is relatable and brings out the unmatched excitement of children on Christmas in everyone who watches. Every one becomes a child again when they watch "A Christmas Story."

Christmas tree

It's the most wonderful time of the year! Christmas is one of my personal favorite holidays because of the Christmas traditions my family upholds generation after generation. After talking to a few of my friends at college, I realized that a lot of them don't really have "Christmas traditions" in their family, and I want to help change that. Here's a list of Christmas traditions that my family does, and anyone can incorporate into their family as well!

It’s here; that time of year when college students turn into preschoolers again. We cry for our mothers, eat everything in sight, and whine when we don’t get our way. It’s finals, the dreaded time of the semester when we all realize we should have been paying attention in class instead of literally doing anything else but that. Everyone has to take them, and yes, unfortunately, they are inevitable. But just because they are here and inevitable does not mean they’re peaches and cream and full of rainbows. Surviving them is a must, and the following five phases are a reality for all majors from business to art, nursing to history.
