Middle School Glory Days

Middle School Glory Days

Instant Messaging:

The original iMessage. The thing we put most of our time into. Oh how we miss the days of screen names, away messages and buddy infos. The generations to come missed out on such an extravagant communication tool.

MySpace:

What better way to tell your friends how much they mean to you? The song that went with your profile, genius. And the bad a*s feeling you got when you had a MySpace without your parents knowing--irreplaceable. I mean, Tom from Myspace was everyone's first friend.

Gauchos:

The most comfortable pants that ever existed. They were like a cross between crop yoga pants and maxi skirts--not a day goes by where we don’t miss them.

Break Ups:

Why was it so easy to dump your middle school boyfriend and move on to a new guy by lunch time? Life was just too simple back then.

Income:

If you were responsible enough to babysit, you were living large. Weekly allowance and that $5 you got for lunch on half days were all you needed to survive this world.

Limited Too:

I mean, where else could you find a comfortable jumpsuit that could also be made for your Build A Bear?

MASH:

How else could you possibly get a boyfriend, a mansion, a dog and a limousine in the same day?

SIMS:

What a thrill. Long live the days of designing someone else to live in your dream world while also learning the hardships of real life.

New year, new semester, not the same old thing. This semester will be a semester to redeem all the mistakes made in the previous five months.

1. I will wake up (sorta) on time for class.

Let's face it, last semester you woke up with enough time to brush your teeth and get to class and even then you were about 10 minutes late and rollin' in with some pretty unfortunate bed head. This semester we will set our alarms, wake up with time to get ready, and get to class on time!

And so it begins.

1. Walk in motivated and ready to rock

Camping out at the library is not for the faint of heart. You need to go in as a warrior. You usually have brought supplies (laptop, chargers, and textbooks) and sustenance (water, snacks, and blanket/sweatpants) since the battle will be for an undetermined length of time. Perhaps it is one assignment or perhaps it's four. You are motivated and prepared; you don’t doubt the assignment(s) will take time, but you know it couldn’t be that long.
