Mid-Year Book Freak Out

Okay, okay I know it's not the middle of the year, sue me. But still, I really want to do this tag. This is actually a book tag that's been going around on the blog, but I thought it would be fun to do one here.

1. BEST BOOK YOU'VE READ SO FAR IN 2017

Maybe this is not the all time favorite book for everyone, but this book holds a special place in my heart. Therefore, I present you: Geekerella. I've talked about how much I love this book in my review here. If you're a fangirl or a fanboy, you should definitely read Geekerella! It'd be an absolute treat!

2. YOUR FAVORITE SEQUEL OF 2017

I haven't read many series this year, but for this one, I have to go with Siege and Storm. This book is the sequel to Shadow and Bone in The Grisha Trilogy by Leigh Bardugo. Compared to the latest series by Leigh Bardugo, which is Six of Crows Duology, the plot is not as complicated but still a good series to read. And hey, I need more of the Grishaverse anyway.

3. A NEW RELEASE YOU HAVEN'T READ BUT WANT TO

In my defense, I want to reread the first two books before diving into this one. But apparently, I can't find time to read nowadays. Like the famous quote amongst us, bookworms said, "So many books, so little time".

4. MOST ANTICIPATED RELEASE FOR THE SECOND HALF OF THE YEAR

Hands down, The Language of Thorns by Leigh Bardugo. Like I said before, I can't seem to get enough of The Grishaverse! Can't wait!

5. YOUR BIGGEST DISAPPOINTMENT

I really wanted to enjoy When Dimple met Rishi by Shandya Menon. But sadly, I had too much expectation for this book. I wanted something empowering, but it turned out to be quite cheesy for me. I have a non spoiler review for this book here.

6. BIGGEST SURPRISE OF THE YEAR

I reread Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban earlier this year. And HOLY MOLY!!! I forgot how fun it was! This book is, by far, the most hilarious book in the series. From sassy Harry to Lee Jordan's commentary, everything! So P-R-E-C-I-O-U-S.

7. FAVE NEW TO YOU OR DEBUT AUTHOR

I have to go on Angie Thomas on this one, for sure. She wrote The Hate U Give, which was her debut novel. And it was just mindblowing! This novel is so powerful and beautiful and heartbreaking at the same time. The writing is absolutely amazing! This book should be read by everyone in the world.

8.YOUR NEW FICTIONAL CRUSH

For those of you who read the A Court of Thorns and Roses series by Sarah J Maas, or have seen it around bookstagram, you'd know that Rhysand is the total book-boyfriend ever. Well yeah, he is, but after reading A Court of Wings and Ruin, I'm totally swooning over Cassian. You know what I'm talking about ;)

9. BOOK THAT MADE YOU CRY

For the record, this book made me cry for the first time when I'm reading books, ever. The story is just so beautiful and touching and so well written. And of course, I love the character so much! Auggie is such a sweetheart.

10. A BOOK THAT MADE YOU HAPPY

This book just gave me all the warm, happy feeling, Almost 3/4 time when I read this I was going "aaawh". So cute!

11. FAVE BOOK TO MOVIE ADAPTATION YOU'VE SEEN THIS YEAR

I really really love the adaptation of The Handmaid's Tale by Margaret Atwood. Not exactly a movie, but a tv series. I hadn't read the novel when I watched the show. I've been listening to the audiobook and I can say that the tv series it's a pretty dang good adaptation.

12. WHAT ARE THE BOOKS YOU NEED TO READ BEFORE THE END OF THE YEAR

- Always and Forever, Lara Jean by Jenny Han

- Shade of Magic by Victoria Schwab

- The Raven Cycle by Maggie Stiefvater

- Monsters of Verity by VE Schwab

And many many more!

That's it! I hope you enjoy this post! Keep on reading!:)

As college students, we are all familiar with the horror show that is course registration week. Whether you are an incoming freshman or selecting classes for your last semester, I am certain that you can relate to how traumatic this can be.

1. When course schedules are released and you have a conflict between two required classes.

Bonus points if it is more than two.

Raising the minimum wage to a livable wage would not only benefit workers and their families, it would also have positive impacts on the economy and society. Studies have shown that by increasing the minimum wage, poverty and inequality can be reduced by enabling workers to meet their basic needs and reducing income disparities.

I come from a low-income family. A family, like many others in the United States, which has lived paycheck to paycheck. My family and other families in my community have been trying to make ends meet by living on the minimum wage. We are proof that it doesn't work.

As an English Major in college, I have a lot of writing and especially creative writing pieces that I work on throughout the semester and sometimes, I'll find it hard to get the motivation to type a few pages and the thought process that goes behind it. April Ludgate

Every college student knows and understands the struggle of forcing themselves to continue to care about school. Between the piles of homework, the hours of studying and the painfully long lectures, the desire to dropout is something that is constantly weighing on each and every one of us, but the glimmer of hope at the end of the tunnel helps to keep us motivated. While we are somehow managing to stay enrolled and (semi) alert, that does not mean that our inner-demons aren't telling us otherwise, and who is better to explain inner-demons than the beloved April Ludgate herself? Because of her dark-spirit and lack of filter, April has successfully been able to describe the emotional roller-coaster that is college on at least 13 different occasions and here they are.
