What To Do During The Mid-Winter Break Blues

Well, here we are, in that awkward in-between stage of enjoying your break and worrying about school starting all over again. You might be thinking, what do I do? The holidays are over, no more Christmas and the new year has begun. Do you turn your bedroom into a cocoon and anxiously wait until you become a beautiful college butterfly once again? Nah, I have some other ideas.

Hit The Gym

Get a head start on your New Year's resolution and join a gym for 17 days. We all promise ourselves that during this new year we will make a better version of ourselves, by getting buff and slim. So join a gym for half a month and get started before you can return to your free college gym.

Hang Out With Friends... Again

I know you have probably already seen all of your high school friends already, well see them again! A bunch of new movies just came out, go catch one with your girls/guys! Or you can go shopping and blow the gift cards you most likely received for Christmas. Or invite a friend from college that lives a little farther away to come up for a weekend. Or just enjoy each others friendship by, following a training montage, bro hug on a beach.

Sleep

I know I will be doing this, just sleep. Sleep until noon! Sleep all day, if you want to! No doubt you were up until the wee hours of the morning celebrating the new year or just stay up late as a rule. That's fine! Just make sure you are getting sleep to compensate or take a nap sometimes. 20 minutes is the perfect nap time, but heck you have all day!

Family

Enjoy your family members while they are around, you most likely won't have them all together for a long time. Play a board game or something!

Binge Watch a Netflix Show

It's a favorite past time of many, very easy to do and kills a lot of time. If you are feeling an action-y show I suggest 24, Flash, or Arrow. Maybe a drama? Try Breaking Bad, Orange is the New Black or Derek. Medical Drama? House is hilarious and amazing and Grey's Anatomy is the best show to grace this green earth! (WARNING! YOU WILL DO NOTHING ELSE WITH YOUR LIFE IF YOU START GREY'S BUT IT IS THE BEST BUT YOU HAVE BEEN WARNED). Or a funny show, the best options include, Parks and Recreation, Archer, Jane the Virgin, The Office, Friends, and many more. It's also fun to challenge yourself and try to see how fast you can take down a season and how much popcorn the act requires.

No matter what you do, you have to make sure you are doing it to make yourself happy and it allows you to live up to the winter break you have expected. Enjoy yourself!

The Perks of Being a Girl

“I just want you to know that you’re very special… and the only reason I’m telling you is that I don’t know if anyone else ever has.”

As frustrating and annoying as it can be, being a girl is really awesome. We are beautiful inside and out. Not a lot of people may see that, but girls have a ton of amazing qualities.

We have unique flirting skills.

Us girls have a significant way to flirt with other people. Even when we say the most random or awkward things, we have a way of making everything sound cute and planned. It’s just a gift; we’re good like that.

Us college students know all about the struggle of spending the day in the library. Whether you are writing a ten-page paper, studying for a biology exam, or struggling through math homework, you somehow find the strength to get to the library to get it all done. Let's just say you have a lot of different thoughts that run through your head during the many hours you spend in the lovely library.

female tv characters
We Heart It

Over the past decade, television has undergone a very crucial transition: the incorporation of female lead characters. Since it's a known fact that girls actually do run the world (Beyonce said so herself), it's time for the leading ladies of the small screen to get some credit. Without these characters, women would still be sitting in the background of our favorite shows. These women are not only trailblazers for female empowerment, but role models for women worldwide. With that, here are 15 of the smartest, sassiest ladies gracing our screens that remind us that women do, indeed, rule:

If you are like me, you have an interesting personality. Basically, you love to be sassy and snarky, gossip, and act like a total bitch (not really), but deep down, you are actually a very genuinely nice person. The idea of actually hurting someone truly makes you feel bad, and you probably have never actually hurt someone’s feelings because your kindness always shines through, even if you do not want it to. Not sure exactly what I would call this type of personality, but if you identify with it, here are some feelings you can undoubtedly relate to.

Blair Waldorf

We all have a little bit of Blair Waldorf inside of us. You may not realize it, but you're probably guilty of at least nine out of ten of these listed points. So why don't we reminisce on the famous Blair Waldorf moments where we realized we were actually her at certain times through the series?
