Mid-Semester Reflection: Why's The Coffee Gone?

Can we all just create a national holiday where everyone gets a break from adulting?

Surprisingly enough, the semester has been flying by pretty fast. Nonetheless, who would've thought that we're just about two weeks shy from Fall Break and also midterms? I don't know about you folks but I'm just ready to skip ahead to summer break instead. I need a few months away from adult-ing... Or even a few years.

The first half of this semester has been a little rough so far. With exams practically every Monday for the College of Nursing, I can sense myself starting to lose the coloring pigments in my hair, my social life, and what could possibly be my sanity. I'll keep y'all updated. With that said, I have officially walked into what is just pure madness. When I say madness, I mean madness as in trying to understand Microbiology in a series of rectangles and circles. And I thought math was hard when the alphabet was introduced into it.

With fall break drawing near, I have also came to the realization that I'm burning through coffee faster than I study. Sadly enough, one cup of coffee no longer does me justice. Just like studying 5 days before an exam no longer satisfies my feeling of self-preparedness before an exam. I need more of everything. Specifically, I need more days where I can just sleep and do nothing. And Coffee. I've been out of coffee for weeks now.

With fall break growing near, I realized I took nothingness for granted. Before the semester began, I was so set on finally getting to do something everyday. At this point, I'm practically doing something every minute. You know the saying, "Be careful what you wish for?" Pure irony is what that is and I no longer find it funny.

Lastly, I do cherish the smaller moments during the day that are about just barely 30 minutes each where I can just sit on the couch, watch Impractical Jokers, and just not adult for a while. It's something about letting responsibilities slip away for a few moments that helps me keep my game on point. It's almost like getting a sample of ice cream at Baskin and Robins. It's great just to get a small taste, and even greater to get the whole tub.

The Daily Struggles of Being a College Commuter

It's not all morning coffees and singing along to the radio.

The Daily Struggles of Being a College Commuter

I've been in college for four years now. I spent half my time as a commuter and half as a resident so I've experienced both sides of the housing spectrum. One thing I've learned comparing the two is that my struggles as a commuter far outweigh anything I went through while living on campus. Commuters have to deal with the problems school brings along with a slew of other issues; I've filled up my gas tank in the worst kind of weather conditions and napped in random places in public more times than I'm proud to say of. This is a list of some of the most challenging aspects of being a commuter.

New year, new semester, not the same old thing. This semester will be a semester to redeem all the mistakes made in the previous five months.

1. I will wake up (sorta) on time for class.

Let's face it, last semester you woke up with enough time to brush your teeth and get to class and even then you were about 10 minutes late and rollin' in with some pretty unfortunate bed head. This semester we will set our alarms, wake up with time to get ready, and get to class on time!
