If you are a college student, you know exactly what the "mid-semester depression" is. It is the point in the semester when you are tired, defeated, breaking out, and missing your family and friends from home. It is the point in the semester when you have to pick out your classes for Spring, as if you even know what classes you want to take next semester. You are feeling overworked as you have an essay or an exam in almost every class. If you have a job, internship, or are a college athlete this time of the year is, even more, overwhelming for you. You are only half way through but you need a break so bad so you start to skip class because you just want to sleep.
DO NOT get into the habit of letting the mid-semester depression defeat you. There is a saying by Lou Holtz, "Ability is what you're capable of doing. Motivation determines what you do. Attitude determines how well you do it." Ability, motivation, and attitude. All key elements in order to be successful at whatever it is you are doing. You have the ability to finish the semester with a positive mindset. You made it into college so you know you have the ability to finish it. Finish the rest of the semester with the same excited motivation you had the first day of class in the beginning of the semester. And the most important thing is your attitude. You are more than capable of having a good attitude to finish the semester strong and get those grades you have been working so hard for. It is always mind over matter. Your brain is so powerful and guess what…it's your brain and it's your power. It is your decision and your choice to get your attitude right so you can defeat the mid-semester depression.
