If you live in the midwest, it can feel at times like we don't have the best vacation destinations. However, this is definitely not true. There are so many hidden gems in the midwest, and so many lie within the Great Lakes State of Michigan. Michigan is the northern midwest state everyone should visit!

Michigan isn't called the Great Lakes State for nothing! You can't talk about Michigan without talking about its beautiful beaches. The best part about Michigan beaches is that there is so much of it! Access from sprawling cities, cute beach towns, and national park campgrounds, it is all the same beautiful water. With access to all your favorite water sports, the beach is a place for everyone. And you cannot forget those famous Lake Michigan sunsets.
Hiking and Camping
Michigan has so much land to offer from border to border. With hiking along the shoreline, and deep in the interior. Growing up camping in Michigan, I was privy to some amazing hiking. Michigan has great landscape to offer all-year around. Winters can be rough, but beautiful. Camping three seasons out of the year is doable, and should be done. Hiking consists of dunes, woods, various wildlife, and plenty secrets hidden in the country side.
A Blast From The Past!
Michigan is home to some truly beautiful history. Pictured above, The Henry Ford museum gives a glimpse into Detroit's creation of the automotive industry. Michigan has historical spots all over, with the shores littered with lighthouses, and small towns full of historical colonial homes. Any drive across this state is bound to be intermittent with historical stopping points.
Michigan is the vacation that keeps on giving. Bountiful in recreation, nature, and plenty of beach, Michigan is a perfect family destination! The best ways to stay in Michigan are definitely by campground or Bread and Breakfast. With camping, you are entirely immersed in the beauty of Michigan. By staying in quant inns, you get the historical Michigan experience. Regardless of what you do or where you stay, be sure to spend at least one day at the beach, and stay until sunset. As anyone who has ever seen it can attest, it is a beauty that must not be missed!
