Michigan's Men's Basketball Team went into the 2017-2018 season unranked and unnoticed, but they soon would prove sports commentators, The Big Ten, and haters that we were The Team to beat.
They said we would never be Michigan State. We did twice.
They said we would never win the Big Ten Tournament. We did.
They thought our tournament run was over in the second round to Houston. We won in a buzzer beater.
They said we would never beat Texas A&M after that. We beat them by 27.
They said we would never make it to the finals. We did.
Even though we did lose to Villanova in the finals, this season showed me that the future is very bright for Michigan Basketball.
As an avid Michigan Basketball fan, the loss to Villanova is sad, but I know the returning players will use this sadness and energy and channel it into the off-season to come back stronger and better than ever. Like Jordan Poole said in a press interview after Michigan's 79-62 loss to Villanova, "It’s life or death at this point."
I can not wait to be in Crisler next year when they raise The Big Ten Champion Banner and The Final Four Banner because even though we lost in the finals, it does not negate the successes we have had this season.
I will never forget coming back from behind and beating UCLA in overtime. I will never forget beating Ohio State in Crisler. I will never forget the buzzer beater by Jordan Poole. I will never forget winning The Big Ten against Purdue. I will never forget beating Michigan State in East Lansing.
Win or lose, I will always love Michigan Basketball and John Beilein.
Michigan Basketball is coming back better than ever next year, watch out. Forever, Go Blue.
