Bachelorette parties happen all over the world. Whether you’re taking flight overseas, driving across the country or staying put in your home state…there are plenty of different experiences to take in.

Being a Michigan native, I’m all about celebrating the bride-to-be in our beautiful state. With two peninsulas, four seasons, a variety of terrain and enclosure from 4 out of the 5 great lakes…Michigan offers it all.

Michigan’s east side offers a great bar and shopping scene. More the relaxed type? Take her up north where you’ll find some of the most beautiful lakes. If she’s not on either end of the spectrum, visit western Michigan, where you’ll find a perfect combination of the two.

East Michigan
Take your bride to the east side of the state and plan the perfect day (or weekend) full of memories. Home to historic theatres, delicious eateries and some of the state’s best shopping destinations…your bride will have plenty of attractions to choose from. Explore Somerset Collection or Twelve Oaks if she’s into the shopping scene. Hop on a party bus or pedal your way through downtown in the Detroit Cycle Pub. Visit the Ann Arbor Art Fair and experience the city’s thriving dining scene. East Michigan has a lot to offer for all types of brides.

Popular Cities: Detroit, Royal Oak, Ann Arbor

Northern Michigan
Northern Michigan is a perfect destination for brides looking for a relaxing weekend away. Escape the city and hangout on the lake for the day. A few of the most popular are Elk Lake, Glen Lake, Lake Charlevoix and Walloon Lake. At night, head to Traverse City and try out a few well-known breweries: North Peak, Right Brain, The Workshop. Prefer wine? The city offers a variety of tours on both the Leelanau and Old Mission Peninsulas. Additional attractions up north include Sleeping Bear Dunes, M-119’s Tunnel of Trees, Historic Fishtown and the Cherry Bowl Drive-In Theatre.
Popular Cities: Traverse City, Charlevoix, Petoskey

West Michigan
Head on over to the west side of the state and explore everything it has to offer. If your bride is looking for a city that has a lot going on – west Michigan is your spot. From ArtPrize in Grand Rapids to the Tulip Time Festival in Holland, there are a variety of events constantly taking place no matter which season. If you’re looking for a more relaxed staycation, head even further west and you’ll find yourself at Lake Michigan. Rent a cozy cottage on Airbnb or HomeAway and spend your weekend soaking up the sun. West Michigan is the perfect combination of laid back and on the go – see for yourself!
Popular Cities: Grand Rapids, Muskegon, Grand Haven, Holland

There are plenty of attractions Michigan has to offer when it comes to celebrating your bride-to-be. I guarantee you can find a town fit for what she’s looking for – beaches, spas, nightlife, wine and brewery tours, festivals, even historic hot spots. Michigan is a beautiful place to be and an even more beautiful place to celebrate.

11 Things Summer Nannies Can Relate To

As a college student, being a nanny over the summer is both enjoyable and challenging. Underneath the seemingly perfect trips to the pool or countless hours spent playing Monopoly are the obstacles that only nannies will understand. Trading in your valuable summer vacation in return for three months spent with a few children less than half your age may seem unappealing, but so many moments make it rewarding. For my fellow summer nannies out there, I know you can relate.

If it hurts now, it'll hurt again. Not because you're gullible or naive, only because you fall fast, hard, and you do it every time.

We fall each and every time with the complete and utter confidence that someone will be there to catch us. Now that person we SWORE we were never going to fall for has our hearts, and every time we see them our palms start sweating. The butterflies in our stomach start to soar and our hearts are entirely too close to bursting out of our chests.

Growing up I have always wanted to own a horse. My grandparents own a well known equestrian facility in Georgia, so I have been riding since I was born. A bond between a person and their horse is a bond so strong that it cannot be broken. Everywhere I went I wanted to be around horses, even forcing my family to go on trail rides during vacations. Horses have been a part of my life for as long as I can remember has taught me great responsibility, as well as 14 things that all equestrians can relate to.

College is super hard. Between working, studying, and having a social life, it feels like a struggle to just keep afloat.

I understand. When you feel like your drowning and there's no way to stay afloat I understand that it feels like everyone else is doing just fine. I understand all the frustration, long nights in the library, and that feeling that you want to just throw in the towel. I understand that sometimes it's too hard to get out of bed because your brain is already filled with too much information to remember. I understand because I am also feeling pretty burnt out.

No Matter How Challenging School Gets, You Have To Put Your Health First — A Degree Won't Mean Anything If You're Dead

Some of the best advice I've ever received was from my social studies teacher in sophomore year of high school. He stated, "If you don't know it at midnight, you're not going to know it for the 8 a.m. exam, so get some sleep."

It's such a simple piece of advice, but it holds so much accuracy and it's something that the majority of college students need to hear and listen to. "All-nighters" are a commonality on college campuses in order to cram in studying for an exam that is typically the next day.
