Michael Scott is wiser than we give him credit for and "The Office" is ALWAYS relatable.
1. Rolling up to campus knowing you're not freshmeat
There's no better feeling than coming back to campus and knowing more people than you did the year prior. And as an extra bonus, you're not the youngest kid on the playground—you know most of the tricks, tips, dos, and don'ts.
2. Finally being reunited with your friends from all over the country
Face it–we all know that we talk to three people from high school AT MOST. Your town isn't your stomping grounds anymore and you forfeited the throne to the younger kids. Going back to school means that you finally get to link up with your new and improved squad.
3. Remembering that school comes with homework and stress
We're wishing that our first week is just like high school: Doing almost nothing and having no homework. Buuuuuuuut college is a different story. "Syllabus week?" What's that?
4. Realizing that you didn't save as much money as you originally planned
I promised myself that I return to school with extra money and that I would save everything I made after June first. Yet, here I am, thinking I can afford a two-week international vacation and buying everything I see at Target. It looks like a job off-campus will have to be "the move" this year so that I can afford my boujee lifestyle.
5. Seeing someone you had a fling with last semester... But you thought they were transferring
We never ended up being together because he swore a thousand times that he wasn't coming back, but there he is... Walking across the lawn... Or does he have a secret evil twin? Nope, just him. I'm avoiding that disaster at allllllll costs. No habla Inglés.
6. It's finally valid to party on a weeknight again
Margarita Monday? Tequila Tuesday? Wine Wednesday? Thirsty Thursday? And Fireball Friday? Sign me up for all of the above! Sometimes you need a weekend in the middle of your week. It's college–no one can judge you. Chances are, everyone else is doing just the same. (After homework, assignments, essays, and responsibilities are finished, of course.)
7. Walking into class to see unexpected homies
At least I know that if I'm going down, I won't be going down alone. Having the same handful of people in some of your classes each semester is great; You get new study buddies, more people to get notes from, and classmates become friends with.
8. Finally getting to be over-dramatic about every small dilemma
"The other night, I said 'OK' instead of 'okay'... He totally thinks I was mad at him and I'm a psycho. I have to transfer and change my name. It's over for me. The whole school is going to think I'm crazy!" I promise it's not that deep. But having over-dramatic friends really makes you analyze texting more than you ever have before.
9. Forcing yourself to work on the "back to school bod" you were supposed to get over the summer
"I'll come back to school looking so good that no one will recognize me," I say, at the beginning of May. Here I am, the week before move-in and the only exercise I've done was moving my arms from the fork to my mouth consistently. We'll just try again when the gym is free on campus and healthy meals aren't as expensive since it's just cafeteria food.
