When I'm watching the Olympics, I think to myself (while I'm sitting on my couch), "Wow I literally can't imagine what that would feel like to run into a room full of people gunning for you to lose, for that one medal to sit around their necks and have their national anthem blaring through the loud speakers."
For some, they are there getting their first ever medal. Whether that be first, second or third. And then there is Michael Phelps, the man who not only just received his 19th gold medal, but is striving for even more.
Michael Phelps is another member of the U.S. that put on an astonishing performance to stake claim on his astonishing 19th Olympic gold medal of his career on Sunday. The 31-year-old, who had quit the sport after the 2012 Games, was making quite the comeback in Rio as Team USA slid easily to victory in the 4x100 meter freestyle relay.
Phelps, who gave a strong second leg in the relay, has now won 23 medals in total, lengthening his record as the most decorated Olympian of all time. Can I be you Mr. Phelps? With his good luck charm and son Boomer in attendance, Phelps sure did make his boy proud, along with teammates Caeleb Dressel, Ryan Held and Nathan Adrian.
