Midway through a game of Clue with his family this past Easter Sunday, Michael Flynn reportedly offered to testify in exchange for immunity, assuring his family that he hadn’t killed Mr. Body and just because he was asking for immunity didn’t mean he was guilty of anything.
“My lawyer, Robert Kelner, who has become as much a part of the family as Matt or Michael Jr. these past few weeks, recommended that this was the best course of action for somebody in my position,” said Flynn, reiterating that it really wasn't him and everybody needed to stop thinking it was.
Flynn went on to remind his family that if it turned out his character, Colonel Mustard, was guilty, they should keep in mind that Flynn and Mustard were completely different people and that Mustard was only a character, although the most suspicious character in the game.
This offer to testify came on the heels of an accusation from his wife that Flynn was not showing his cards when he was supposed to. He explained that he hadn't heard her ask and just because he was asking for immunity didn't mean he was doing anything wrong, saying "Accidents happen, I might have misremembered the rules a little, but we don't need to make a big deal out of it.”
The family did not take Mr. Flynn up on his offer to testify however, arguing that it would ruin the integrity of the game and that playing the game was just a fun thing to do on a Sunday when people are obligated to spend time with their families, no matter how much they don't want to.
They went on to reassure him that they knew he wasn’t guilty of anything more than being a threat to national security, and that soon this board game controversy would be over and he could focus his energy back on hoping President Trump could distract the media long enough so that he could find a way to not be held responsible for his actions.
