For the past month or so I have been re-watching one of my favorite shows, Mianite. But no, it’s not a show you would find on television but one created using livestream and YouTube technology. Honestly, there is nothing like it. Created by YouTube gamers Tom Cassell (known as TheSyndicateProject) and Tucker Boner (IIJeriichoII), Mianite is a Minecraft server where Tom, Tucker, and their YouTube gamer buddies Jordan (CaptainSparklez), Sonja (OMGitsfirefox), and James (Waglington) immerse themselves in a world where three Gods reign: Mianite, Dianite, and Ianite. On this hilarious show, the YouTubers carry out tasks, quests, and pranks--sometimes set out by the Gods themselves-- as well as collaborate with one another towards a common goal. The show has such a huge following and fan-base that when livestreaming, it’s not uncommon for over 20,000 people around the world to tune in. Then there are hundreds of thousands of views on the recorded livestreams uploaded to YouTube. Here are a few reasons why you too should watch the show:
Intriguing Plots
Mianite is not simply a show where you watch people play Minecraft for hours. There are intriguing plots laid out for the YouTubers to explore and interact with, especially through the actors that come on the server to help further the plots. These plots range from aiding a band of pirates, to entering a portal into another world, to helping to get rid of a corrupt King, and reviving a God’s body. The Mianite crew always have interesting plots laid out before them, and never fail to entertain when on their quests.

It’s Done Live & Is Audience-Interactive!
Mianite is recorded live with a livestreaming service called Twitch, and the channels of the Mianite streamers are accessible to anyone that searches for them. While livestreaming, the YouTubers often consult with the comments and suggestions made in the chat, allowing the audience to interact--and even collaborate--with the story and the tasks carried out by the gamers.
Videos Are Always On Demand
There are hundreds of Mianite episodes available for anyone interested to watch on the VOD (video on demand) or Twitch channels created by the Mianite crew on YouTube. You can start from the very beginning of season one to the last episode of season two without hassle. I love watching 're-runs' of the show and have no problem finding and viewing the episodes I liked the most.
Multiple Perspectives to Watch
Another amazing thing about this show is that you have five perspectives of the events, tasks, and quests taking place everyday. If the person you were watching did not capture the full scale of the event, then you can easily look to another video that shows a bit more. Or perhaps one person is doing something you’re not too interested in and wish to watch what someone else was doing instead. You, as the viewer, are allowed a lot of choice and flexibility when it comes to what or who you want to watch.
Mianite is currently in transition from its second season into its third, and I have been spending quite some time re-watching season two. If you’re a Minecraft fan--or even a gamer fan in general--that loves a good laugh and interesting plots, I recommend watching Mianite.
