Miami of Ohio in little old Oxford, Ohio, in my humble opinion, is one of the best college towns in the entire country. No, I do not say that just because I am a student here; I say this because on top of me being a student, if you analyze Oxford as a whole, there is nothing not to like about it.
First off, Miami has one of the most beautiful campuses in the state, if not the country. Robert Frost, a famed poet even agrees that Miami is "the most beautiful campus that ever there was." Almost every building on campus is built in the same manner: red brick and beige trim as far as the eye could see.
Academics is also a strong suit at Miami. The Farmer School of Business is ranked the eighth best public university business school in the country, and 23rd in the country overall by Forbes. Also Miami regularly receives awards for having a great dedication to undergraduate teaching. Meaning that when you have those big lectures your freshmen year, they are not being taught by some graduate student. You are being taught by an actual college professor who has had achievements in the field.
Miami also has all sorts of extracurriculars to offer. Miami has over 400 clubs, clubs sports, intramurals, and student-run organizations. There are all sorts of things going on on campus at any given moment, so you can almost always find someone handing out some flyer for something going on.
On top of all of this, the nightlife at Miami is amazing. There are countless bars to go to at Miami. There is Brick Street, The Wood's (or new bar), Bar 45, Hatch, Skippers, Steinkillers, Pachinkos, and many more where you can always have some fun at. Also, there are so many houses just off Miami's campus where there is always something going on. You can walk down any street off campus at almost any given moment and find somebody having some sort of fun.
The atmosphere is something that no other college has at night. Every night there is some student organization doing a fundraiser at the Phi Delt gates, selling grilled cheese or some other food to people walking back. You always want to buy but you never have the money. Very often there is someone on the corner of High Street and Poplar playing music for everyone to hear. There are always those people saying "hello" to everyone and making you feel welcome.
Miami, because of the reasons above, is one of the best colleges in the country. There is such a small-town feel to this campus and everyone loves it. There is something for every type of person on this campus. There is always some chance at any moment to have some sort of fun. This is why Miami is so great and why no one ever wants to leave.
