Something that has really interested me for a long time is the Mandela Effect. The Mandela Effect is a conspiracy that our universe at one point crossed into a parallel alternate reality. This unexplained phenomenon is a hard concept to wrap your head around, but people believe that this is explained by sudden changes in things that everybody remembers one way, but seems to be different today.
The Mandela Effect’s name originates with the seemingly first Mandela effect that occurred. Many people know of Nelson Mandela; he was sent to prison for protesting against his government for human rights. The scary thing, people remember him dying in prison and many people recall it being reported on television and in the news. So, when his death was announced recently in 2013, people were really confused because they thought he had already passed. Thus started the Mandela Effect.
Many people disbelieve this conspiracy, but there are so many instances that people have found that back up this phenomenon. Here are some examples.
1. Beary Confusing
Probably one of the most known Mandela Effects is the Berenstain Bears. You might remember reading these books as a young child. The Berenstain Bears was a very popular children's book series, but if you look at the spelling, a lot of people have noticed that it is not BerenstEin, but rather BarenstAin.
2. Cold Cuts
My bologna has a first name, it's O-S-C-A-R, my bologna has a second name it's M-..huh? Oscar Mayer has a way with bologna, but do they have a way with the Mandela Effect? Many people, including me personally, do not remember pronouncing it Mayer, but actually Meyer.
3. That's Not All, Folks!
Remember that old show starring Bugs Bunny, the cute little bird Tweety, Daffy Duck and all their friends? What was that show called again..?
4. Rich Uncle Pennybags
When I asked my sister what the Monopoly Man was known for, the first thing that came to her mind was his monocle that rests over his eye. But the confusion is real when you pull up his image and see he indeed does not wear one at all.
5. Sly Sneakers
Everybody knows the brand "Skechers" for being a brand of shoes. Although, a lot of people, including me, recall it being spelled "Sketchers" which is not how it is spelled today.
6. Hectic Hyphen
Kit-Kat is a delicious candy bar, but when did they get rid the hyphen in their name?
7. Puzzled Palette
When you hear of the color chartreuse, what color do you think of? Many people are recalling it to be a red-ish color, when in reality, it is a yellow-green color. Maybe it is just people not knowing, or maybe it can be attributed to the Mandela Effect.
8. Never Know What You're Going to Get
In the movie Forest Gump, there is a famous quote that almost everybody knows. "My mama said, life is like a box of chocolates. You never know what you're going to get." When re-watching that scene, he doesn't say that. Instead, he says, "Life WAS like a box of chocolates." It's a small but unusual change that is stumping a lot of people.
9. Piggies, Take Cover
In the famous childhood story, The Three Little Pigs, there is a big bad wolf who threatens the pigs. "I'll huff, and I'll puff, and I'll blow your house down!" is how people remember him threatning them. That is not correct. He actually says ""I'll huff, and I'll puff, and I'll blow your house in!"
10. In or And?
Do you recall the famous chick flick series bring titled "Sex IN the City" or "Sex AND the City?"
11. Who's the Fairest of them All?
Mirror, mirror, on the wall, who's the fairest of them all? Everybody has heard this classic Snow White quote.. but is that actually what the evil queen says? I think she would disagree..
