It's been a while since I've been on Tinder. Even when I did use it, I never really "used" it. It's always been a place of experiment to me. What kind of people are out there? How weird is the 19 to 24-year-old population of guys in my area? I never looked for hookups or spending the night with a random guy; it's just always fascinated me how forward people will be with a stranger. For that reason, I decided to do an experiment and document it for your enjoyment. I matched with 50 guys and sent them all the same pick up line, "I'll cook you dinner if you cook me breakfast" and these are some of the responses I got:
Easy enough.
You can't force humor.
Very eager.
Watch out for Teddy.
A man of few words.
Food is serious to me. Don't kid around, Yair.
This would be a great relationship.
Food + Compliments = Happy Jordan.
You're starting off on the wrong foot, Nicky.
How kind!
Such a charmer.
Can't trick Jason.
He later agreed to drive 4 hours to my house.
Such a comforting guy!
Tinder wouldn't be Tinder without the creepy match that makes it weird.
Spontaneity at its finest.
Nailed it.
Don't question it, David.
Easy to please.
More crepes.
No food, no date.
Thanks for not making me work too hard.
Yeah, this isn't going to work.
Drew coming through with the vegan recipes.
Apparently he's really okay with this.
Food is the way to your heart and mine.
Overall, I met some pretty cool guys. I was especially happy that I didn't get anyone too creepy. I was also seemingly surprised that so many guys specialize in breakfast food (especially crepes?). Moral of the story: Send a pick up line on Tinder referring to food and you'll find a relationship that will last a lifetime.
