On June 1st a "massive police sting" as the newspaper called it, occurred in my hometown and surrounding areas. There were over one-hundred arrests made. There were over 2,000 bags of heroin, 700 bags of cocaine, and over 3,000 bags of fentanyl found by the St. Lawrence County law enforcement and other law enforcement agencies that were of assistance.
A message to the law enforcement who were a part of this:
It takes a lot of courage, strength, and commitment to do something as big as what you have done. I, as well as so many people are so thankful that the drug problem in our area is being taken care of. The nine month investigation was done with such grace and persistence... something that our little town needs to see more of. I can imagine being part of law enforcement is not easy, but you all have shown us how much you care for the well being of our area. You all have put your safety on the line to help our community, and for that you deserve so much more than just a simple "thank you."
I am hoping that this "police sting" can spark an alert to how dangerous drugs can be. These drugs that were found by our law enforcement agencies are dangerous. They have killed many people around our area. I applaud everyone involved in the arrests made on Thursday. You have made so many people proud, and you have saved so many lives... the lives of people who could have been sold these drugs.
