I know you are so excited. Ready to clear out that locker for the final time, say goodbye to those teachers and toss that cap. You are on to bigger and better things, whether you're continuing your education, or going to work, or aren't quite sure yet, there are some things you should know.
You don't have to have it figured out yet. You don't have to have it figured out ever. As long as you are happy, and are able to take care of yourself, you're fine. That being said, if you need to ask for help sometimes, that's okay too. No one is expected to do this "adulting" thing alone.
Do what makes you happy. If your dream is to pursue a degree in Dance, or Art, or Demonology, do it. If you are happy with your choices, life will be much better for you. Side note, you can change your major a couple of times. Or change your career. Life is full of change. It's a good thing.
Don't cut off all ties with your high school friends. I know there are people you'd rather forget, but keep in mind, high school reunions exist. They are real, and they are terrifying. Don't leave with a bunch of enemies.
Take some time to get to know yourself. Adulthood is about finding yourself, and discovering what you need and who you want to be. Some people find it right away, some people don't find for a long time. Always keep searching.
Never settle. Don't settle for friends who don't make your life better, don't settle for partners who make your life harder, don't settle for a job you hate. You have legs for a reason. If it makes your life harder, worse, or you hate it, get to steppin'.
Last but not least, always remember that I love you. And I care about you. And I'm always here if you need me. Always. I'm only an anxious phone call or a drunk text away. Don't ever hesitate to reach out to me. Chances are, I've been there, or I can make it seem like I have been.
So you did it, senior. You're on your way to great things and I always knew you could do it. Now get out there and make me proud.
