20 Reasons Why Leslie Knope Should Be Our Next President

A Message From Knope 2016
Leslie Knope

Wondering who to vote for in November? Afraid that our country will be devastated by either outcome? Worried about your safety and freedom of speech being jeopardized? Concerned that America will fall into the wrong hands? Have no fear, confused voter. Only one candidate has the experience, dedication, and organizational skills necessary to lead this country with finesse:

Leslie Knope.

Our other candidate, Michael Scott, does not show nearly the same level of promise.

While he has been a businessman for years and manages a regional branch of Dunder Mifflin, he is unprofessional on an appalling level and uses offensive language that would only be destructive to our country.

Leslie Knope is criticized by her opponents for her tolerance and organizational skills, but these are the very traits for which she should be praised! The accusations against Michael Scott, on the other hand, of vulgarity and an ill temper are unfortunately true. One would think that his many outbursts would deter voters, but it is not so.

Many voters are still waffling between the two, and we want to ensure that those votes go unanimously to Leslie Knope because she loves waffles!

Without further ado, here are all the reasons any voter needs to "Switch Your Vote to Leslie Knope!"

1. She is thick-skinned and knows how deal with the haters...

...as opposed to Michael Scott.

2. She knows how to rock the red pantsuit.

3. She is invested in fighting the obesity problem...

...unlike our other candidate.

4. She doesn't crack under pressure.

In fact, she thrives on it.

5. She is relentless in her drive for progress.

Hm...

6. She supports the LGBT community.

7. She doesn't stand for sexist comments...

Or ideas.

Michael Scott, on the other hand, perpetuates them in exchanges like this:

Or this:

Or this:

He doesn't have the best track record with women.

8. She's extremely organized and always has a plan.

Scott does not share her sentiment.

9. She understands privilege, but Scott clearly does not.

9. She saved Pawnee from a financial meltdown and has never done this:

10. She also manages to avoid lawsuits.

11. She is confident in her presidential abilities...

And she is likely already eyeing a second term because she has so much to accomplish in so little time.

12. However, she is still aware of her limitations.

13. She doesn't make racially charged comments like this:

14. She also isn't a public relations nightmare.

15. She is willing to pull every all-nighter necessary to improve the well-being of Americans.

16. She values her friends.

17. She doesn't admire or sympathize with dictators...

...nor does she aspire to be one.

18. She takes builds on the ideas and suggestions of others...

...rather than steal them.

19. She has focused every area of her life on her campaign...

...and has been involved in politics for most of her life.

20. Finally, she has a great victory dance!

Don't worry-- you'll get to see it again soon.

Leslie Knope is the clear choice in this election. Her dedication and experience go hand in hand with her organizational skills to create the perfect candidate. If you still have any doubts, just picture Michael Scott in the White House.

How about... Knope!

Author's Note: I personally love both of these shows. Michael Scott's actions and statements are purely comedic and are presented here as such because the American people would never really elect someone like him, right?

Summer: a time (usually) free from school work and a time to relax with your friends and family. Maybe you go on a vacation or maybe you work all summer, but the time off really does help. When you're in college you become super close with so many people it's hard to think that you won't see many of them for three months. But, then you get that text saying, "Hey, clear your schedule next weekend, I'm coming up" and you begin to flip out. Here are the emotions you go through as your best friend makes her trip to your house.

Winter break is over, we're all back at our respective colleges, and the first week of classes is underway. This is a little bit how that week tends to go.

The professor starts to go over something more than the syllabus

You get homework assigned on the first day of class

There are multiple group projects on the syllabus

You learn attendance is mandatory and will be taken every class

Professor starts chatting about their personal life and what inspired them to teach this class

Participation is mandatory and you have to play "icebreaker games"

Everybody is going out because its 'syllabus week' but you're laying in bed watching Grey's Anatomy

Looking outside anytime past 8 PM every night of this week

Nobody actually has any idea what's happening this entire week

Syllabus week is over and you realize you actually have to try now...or not

Now it's time to get back into the REAL swing of things. Second semester is really here and we all have to deal with it.

panera bread

Whether you specialized in ringing people up or preparing the food, if you worked at Panera Bread it holds a special place in your heart. Here are some signs that you worked at Panera in high school.

1. You own so many pairs of khaki pants you don’t even know what to do with them

Definitely the worst part about working at Panera was the uniform and having someone cute come in. Please don’t look at me in my hat.

7 Ways to Make Your Language More Transgender and Nonbinary Inclusive

With more people becoming aware of transgender and non-binary people, there have been a lot of questions circulating online and elsewhere about how to be more inclusive. Language is very important in making a space safer for trans and non-binary individuals. With language, there is an established and built-in measure of whether a place could be safe or unsafe. If the wrong language is used, the place is unsafe and shows a lack of education on trans and non-binary issues. With the right language and education, there can be more safe spaces for trans and non-binary people to exist without feeling the need to hide their identities or feel threatened for merely existing.
