Almost everybody by now has seen Meryl Streep's inspiring and emotional acceptance speech of the Cecil B. DeMille Award at this years Golden Globes. While a lot of people found her speech unnecessary and crude, the majority of people were proud of her for such a bold move.

In her speech, Streep seriously talked about President-Elect Donald Trump, though she technically never mentioned him by name. In her speech she brought up how Trump mocked a disabled reporter, how we must protect the press, and she even took a dig at Trump wanting to 'kick out' foreigners after naming off all of the actors at the award show who weren't from America.

After her incredibly moving speech, Trump took to, of all outlets, Twitter, to voice his outrage about her speech. Trump even went as far to say that Meryl Streep is overrated. Do I think our future president should be throwing a tantrum on Twitter? No, but hey, he can do what he likes I guess. What baffles me about his outburst is that he called Meryl Streep overrated, even though he has commended her as a person in the past.

1. Streep has started two scholarship funds

In 2014 she started the Meryl Streep Endowed Scholarship for English majors, and the Joan Hertzberg Endowed Scholarship for math majors at the University of Massachusetts Lowell. Another completely overrated thing she did was in 2015 when she funded a screenwriters lab for women over 40, called the Writers Lab.

2. She is a huge advocate for equal rights

In 2015, Streep wrote every member of the U.S. Congress a letter supporting the Equal Rights Amendment. A copy of Equal Means Equal: Why the Time for the ERA is Now, a book by ERA Coalition President Jessica Neuwirth, was sent with each letter. Streep also helped the ONE Campaign by signing their petition asking for gender equality.

3. She received the Presidential Medal of Freedom

Come on! She is a movie star, activist, mother, and the recipient of 157 awards, INCLUDING the nations highest civilian honor. How can someone call this woman overrated??

So while we approach the greatest time of the year, let's watch the 15 best Christmas movies of all time.

6 Signs You Are An English Major

There are various stereotypes about college students, most of which revolve around the concept of your major. Unfortunately, we often let stereotypes precede our own judgments, and we take what information is immediately available to us rather than forming our own opinions after considerable reflection. If I got a dollar for every time my friends have made a joke about my major I could pay my tuition. One stereotype on campus is the sensitive, overly critical and rigid English major. Here are six telltale signs you are one of them.

27 Things 'The Office' Has Taught Us

"The Office" is a mockumentary based on everyday office life featuring love triangles, silly pranks and everything in between. It can get pretty crazy for just an average day at the office.

When you were little, your parents probably told you television makes your brain rot so you wouldn't watch it for twelve straight hours. However, I feel we can learn some pretty valuable stuff from television shows. "The Office," while a comedy, has some pretty teachable moments thrown in there. You may not know how to react in a situation where a co-worker does something crazy (like put your office supplies in jello) but thanks to "The Office," now you'll have an idea how to behave ifsomething like that should happen.

Here are just a few of the things that religious Office watchers can expect to learn.

Being pre-med is quite a journey. It’s not easy juggling school work, extracurricular activities, volunteering, shadowing, research, and MCAT prep all at the same time. High School And College Sucked All Of The Fun Out Of Reading

Books were always about understanding for me, about learning the way someone else sees, about connection.

High School And College Sucked All Of The Fun Out Of Reading

I keep making this joke whenever the idea of books is brought up: "God, I wish I knew how to read." It runs parallel to another stupid phrase, as I watch my friends struggle through their calculus classes late at night in our floor lounge: "I hope this is the year that I learn to count." They're both truly idiotic expressions, but, when I consider the former, I sometimes wonder if there's some truth to it.
