This poem is a free write. It isn't what I want it to be just yet but I still really like it. Let me know of any criticism you have.
The Mermaid
Her long brown hair flows around her
As she watches the sun rise above the ocean
She loves watching the sun rise and set
At first the sky is dark and foreboding
But then lights floods into the sky as the sun appears
As she dives back into the water
She is instantly enveloped with cooling water
Her tail is propelling her deeper and deeper
As her eyes adjust back
She sees the wonders of the sea
Look at how the corral is bright and vibrant
Not like that corral the humans destroyed
The fish swim free and full of life
Look at how the mermaid glides through the water
As she is joined by her other mer-friends
When they all go off to morning classes
