Meredith Grey Is Invincible

I've been a fan of Grey's Anatomy now for a few years. I watched through the entire series on Netflix right as season 12 was airing on TV. I loved the stories and the characters. I physically couldn't stop watching it. That being said, I began to notice a pattern with the show, a pattern other than show creator Shonda Rhimes killing off beloved characters. Meredith Grey, the show's main character (it is called Grey's Anatomy), often found herself in perilous, near-fatal experiences. Despite the various emotional and physical threats Meredith has had to overcome, she always ends up fine in the end...or, whatever she considers to be fine. My point is, there were many times in the show where Meredith could have died but never did. Here are some reasons why Meredith Grey is invincible and will never die.

She put her hand on unexploded ammunition. You all know these episodes. The infamous two-part, code black bomb special. After a mishap with a bazooka, a man was taken to the hospital in an ambulance. Hannah, one of the paramedics, is seen with her hand inside the man's body cavity. She placed her hand inside in an attempt to control his internal bleeding. Alex realized after talking to the patient's wife that there was an unexploded bomb inside of his body, and Hannah was actually holding the bomb in place, preventing it from going off and killing everyone nearby. Out of fear, Hannah removed her hand from the body and ran out of the OR. In a fight or flight moment, Meredith put her hand on the bomb. Obviously, she didn't die because this happened in season two and the show is now on its sixteenth season. But she came awfully close, especially because Dylan from the bomb squad died seconds after leaving the OR with the bomb in his hands.

She almost drowned. The beginning of the episode hinted at this. When Meredith was in the bathtub, she submerged herself momentarily while talking about drowning in her internal monologue. Later that day, there was a large ferry boat crash and through a stroke of bad luck, Meredith was knocked into the water by a patient. She swam and tried to fight it, but shortly gave up and started sinking. She was then shown in a sort of purgatory-like area where she saw Denny Duquette, Dylan, and later, her mother Ellis (as she died later in the episode). It was heavily implied that Meredith wasn't going to make it, but she of course woke up at the end of the episode.

She was in a plane crash. People actually did die because of this, but not Meredith. She watched her sister Lexie die, shortly followed by Mark Sloan. Not to mention Arizona Robbins ended up losing her leg to save her life. But Meredith? She was fine by comparison, only sustaining minor injuries. It almost seems like there was a shield surrounding her as the plane went down.

She was attacked by a patient. When a trauma patient lost control, he attacked Meredith. As a result, she temporarily lost her hearing, had broken bones and ended up having her jaw wired shut. Her injuries were extremely serious, but again, she ended up fine and even forgave the patient that attacked her.

Of course, the show has many more instances of Meredith almost dying, but these were some of the most major events. Many fans have a theory that the show will end with Meredith dying from Alzheimer's, but I really think she will never die and the show will continue for a long, long time.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
