Meredith Grey Quotes That Every College Student Can Relate To

If you're anything like me, "Grey's Anatomy" has been a monumental part of your life for some time now. Whether you've been following along for the last 12 seasons, or you binge-watched every season known to Netflix last summer after realizing you had an embarrassingly large amount of time on your hands, you understand the importance of the show. For anyone who hasn't yet watched "Grey's Anatomy," first of all, what are you thinking?! Second of all, I need to fill you in on the main character, Meredith Grey, for the rest of this article to make sense. Meredith, who begins as a surgical intern, has big shoes to fill, being the daughter of world-renowned surgeon, Ellis Grey. Over her 12-season-long journey, Meredith certainly makes many mistakes, easily making her the most college-relatable character. The following are a few of the most relatable Meredith Grey quotes!

"We're adults. When did that happen? And how do we make it stop?"

Literally my everyday thoughts. I was under the impression I didn't have to do adult-like things until after college. This is NOT what I thought I signed up for!

"I want romance damn it. I want to feel like a freaking lady!"

Sorry boys... romantic five-minute conversations in the front yard of a house party under the dimly lit street lights just don't cut it.

"You don't have to be tough every minute of every day. It's OK to let down your guard."

OK, now on a serious note... this one is important!

"Nothing is turning out the way I thought it would... it's like I don't even recognize my own life"

We go to college expecting to be in the perfect major, get into all the perfect classes, land the perfect job, and be a stellar graduate in no more than four years time. Not to mention save up enough money to pay off those student loans, attend an impressive amount of social events, and have the rest of your life figured out. HA HA HA..... NO.

"More tequila. More love. More anything. More is better."

Sometimes its just one of those days... or weeks.... or quarters. Hell, college is hard. Have fun and be selfish every once in a while.

"That's where love exists, in delusional fantasies"

And by delusional fantasies she is referring to all those unrealistic Nicholas Sparks movies that hit the theater so often you have to question how Nicholas Sparks even has enough time to write all of these stories. Let's face it, those kinds of things just don't happen in college.

"I don't have a story. I'm just a girl in a bar."

Shonda Rhimes so eloquently admitting that one-night-stands happen after college too. Very sly Shonda, very sly.

"I'm sorry. I get mean when I'm tired."

Which is often these days. They weren't lying when they said between good grades, a social life, and sleep, you can only pick two. Unless you're one of those magicians that can actually manage all three in which case I direct you to the next quote...

"I hate people."

Stop figuring out how to college better than me. It's making me look bad.

"See this what you're doing? Being dreamy? It doesn't help. It hurts me. It messes with my head."

I refer back to 'delusional fantasies.'

And finally...

"Just put one foot in front of the other. Just get through the day."

Honestly, just yes.

15 Times "Parks and Recreation" Summed Up Your Library Experience

"I've only slept nine hours over the past four days, so I'm right on the verge of a nervous breakdown." - Leslie Knope

Parks and Recreation excitedly gathered around a laptop at a table in an office setting.

The library. Club lib. The place every college student goes when they want to try and be a productive member of society. Who better to explain your experience than Parks and Rec?

Taylor Swift in orange dress playing a moss-covered piano on stage with bright lights.

A three-and-a-half-hour runtime. Nine Eras. Eleven outfit changes. Three surprise songs. Zero breaks. One unforgettable evening. In the past century, no other performer has put on an electric performance quite like Taylor Swift, surpassing her fans ‘wildest dreams’. It is the reason supporters keep coming back to her shows each year. Days later, I’m still in awe of the spectacle ‘Miss Americana’ puts on every few days in a new city. And, like one of Taylor’s exes, has me smiling as I reminisce about the memories of the night we spent together.

The transition into adulthood is never easy

Today I started my third week of college at Minnesota State Moorhead. I have survived welcome week, finding my classes on the first day, and being an awkward loner in the dining hall. Even though I have yet to be here for a month, I have already experienced many thoughts and problems that only a new college student can relate to.

"Make sure to get involved when you're in college!"

We've all heard some variation of this phrase, whether it came from parents, other family members, friends, RAs, or college-related articles. And, like many clichés, it's true for the most part. Getting involved during your college years can help you make friends, build your resume, and feel connected to your campus. However, these commitments can get stressful if you're dealing with personal issues, need to work, or aren't sure how to balance classes and everything else going on during the semester.

In college, one of the essential things to have is friends. Yes, textbooks, a laptop, and other school supplies are important but friends are essential. Friends are that support system everybody needs. The more friends you have the better the support system you have. But you also have someone to share experiences with. And don’t settle for just one or two friends because 8 out of 10 times they are busy and you are studying all alone. Or they have other friend groups that do not include you. Don’t settle for just one or two friends; make as many friends as you can. After the first couple of weeks of college, most friend groups are set and you may be without friends.
