Meredith Grey. When we hear the name there are three thoughts that come to our minds… Why didn't I go to medical school so I could find my “person” and meet my “McDreamy.” Why does she always have such perfect hair especially after she’s worked 48 hours in a damn hospital? And, why can’t I be as badass as her and have a man build a house for me? Yes, I am being nostalgic and referencing back to the good old days before Shonda Rhimes decided to torture us with these series of unfortunate events. Instead, let's go back down memory lane where the ever so wise Meredith leads us to believe after every dark cloud we can still make our own sunshine. (Cue the Jesus Jackson song)

As an avid lover and binge watcher of the show, Meredith has grown to be some what of my own "person" per say not to get all cliche and sappy. But, when the going gets tough, Meredith grey and her glossed lips of wisdom are definitely an inspirational source of knowledge that has helped me learn to grow and experience change for the better. This said, let's reflect on some of those awesome moments from your girl, "Mer."

1. You'll never know if you don't try--Knowing is better than wondering.

2. When you're overwhelmed just keep putting one foot in front of the other.

3. If you think you have a future with them. Be true to yourself, and let that person know.

4. Whether it's a relationship or a personal challenge. Always be prepared to expect the unexpected.

5. Life can be shitty. Cry it out. No one is judging you.

6. Things are not better in moderation. Have that extra chocolate chip cookie or glass of wine.

7. Don't be too guarded with yourself, or the opportunities of new relationships and friendships. Cross that bridge!

8. Don't take life so seriously. Embrace your inner child.

9. Don't ever get too comfortable in relationships or living. Remember, change can be good.

I think it's safe to say, no matter how hard life can get or what we go through. Meredith as a character can help you shape a truly amazing and unique outlook on your own life. I can personally relate to this, as some of the lessons, and sayings in the show have helped me move on and learn my worth as my own "person" dealing with personal experiences, such as, heartbreak, loss of friendships, but, also the opportunity to take on new beginnings.

As Meredith says, Life can be messy--you just need to embrace the change and have faith that you can survive it. I've grown up with these abundant words of wisdom Shonda Rhimes has beautifully voiced into one of my favorite television characters. That's why, this show has become much more than just a great excuse to pour myself a glass of wine and binge watch on the weekends. It's a source of teachings that have helped mold me into the young lady I am today... and for that, I will be eternally grateful.

New year, new semester, not the same old thing. This semester will be a semester to redeem all the mistakes made in the previous five months.

1. I will wake up (sorta) on time for class.

Let's face it, last semester you woke up with enough time to brush your teeth and get to class and even then you were about 10 minutes late and rollin' in with some pretty unfortunate bed head. This semester we will set our alarms, wake up with time to get ready, and get to class on time!

And so it begins.

1. Walk in motivated and ready to rock

Camping out at the library is not for the faint of heart. You need to go in as a warrior. You usually have brought supplies (laptop, chargers, and textbooks) and sustenance (water, snacks, and blanket/sweatpants) since the battle will be for an undetermined length of time. Perhaps it is one assignment or perhaps it's four. You are motivated and prepared; you don’t doubt the assignment(s) will take time, but you know it couldn’t be that long.

December... it's full of finals, due dates, Mariah Carey, and the holidays. It's the worst time of the year, but the best because after finals, you get to not think about classes for a month and catch up on all the sleep you lost throughout the semester. But what's worse than finals week is the last week of classes, when all the due dates you've put off can no longer be put off anymore.

Thanksgiving break is over and Christmas is just around the corner and that means, for most college students, one hellish thing — finals week. It's the one time of year in which the library becomes over populated and mental breakdowns are most frequent. There is no way to avoid it or a cure for the pain that it brings. I know every college student has daily thoughts throughout their day. Whether you're walking on campus or attending class, we always have thoughts running a mile a minute through our heads. We may be wondering why we even showed up to class because we'd rather be sleeping, or when the professor announces that we have a test and you have an immediate panic attack.
