In today's meme culture, our entire news feed is filled with people tagging each other in posts. If I'm being completely honest, I think memes are the only reason Facebook is still relevant and fun anymore.

Don't lie. When you go on Facebook and see this in your notifications, you feel happy and get excited. Besides the fact that they are relatable, why do memes make us feel so good?

1. It's nice to know that someone thought about you.

Whether they are out to roast you or it's a sweet little tag, just the fact that someone thought about you during their day warms your heart. Sometimes a meme is enough to brighten up your day and make you smile.

2. A lot of them are inside jokes that no one else will understand.

More often than not, the comment section is funnier than the meme. Almost no words following the tag are needed for the other person to catch on to the inside joke. Maybe the meme perfectly describes a situation or it secretly hints at something only you two know. Either way, they're so much fun!

3. It's a quick way to show someone you appreciate their friendship.

If you are anything like me and do not outwardly show affection (or any emotion, really) too often, memes are a perfect way to show someone that you care. They're quick, funny and light-hearted. On the contrary, memes are also great for people who LOVE expressing love to their best friends! Memes exist for almost any situation and, chances are, your best friend is the first one that comes to mind to tag.

4. They relate perfectly to things you've done together.

Throwing it back to that time when you were in the car with your friend who is a terrible driver or that final you almost failed together is why memes are hilarious. Sometimes, they serve to foreshadow things you HAVE to do together, like making that mouthwatering recipe, going on a Starbucks run or finally meeting up after not seeing each other for months.

5. The meme itself is too accurate.

Some memes are literally hilarious and spot on. Either the caption is completely relatable or the picture/gif matches the situation perfectly. Getting tagged in these types of memes actually makes you laugh out loud.

I doubt memes will ever become irrelevant because they continue to stay relatable and exciting. Life is much more fulfilling when you can instantly share it with others and laugh alongside the company of your friends.

As college students, we are all familiar with the horror show that is course registration week. Whether you are an incoming freshman or selecting classes for your last semester, I am certain that you can relate to how traumatic this can be.

Raising the minimum wage to a livable wage would not only benefit workers and their families, it would also have positive impacts on the economy and society. Studies have shown that by increasing the minimum wage, poverty and inequality can be reduced by enabling workers to meet their basic needs and reducing income disparities.

I come from a low-income family. A family, like many others in the United States, which has lived paycheck to paycheck. My family and other families in my community have been trying to make ends meet by living on the minimum wage. We are proof that it doesn't work.

April Ludgate

Every college student knows and understands the struggle of forcing themselves to continue to care about school. Between the piles of homework, the hours of studying and the painfully long lectures, the desire to dropout is something that is constantly weighing on each and every one of us, but the glimmer of hope at the end of the tunnel helps to keep us motivated. While we are somehow managing to stay enrolled and (semi) alert, that does not mean that our inner-demons aren't telling us otherwise, and who is better to explain inner-demons than the beloved April Ludgate herself? Because of her dark-spirit and lack of filter, April has successfully been able to describe the emotional roller-coaster that is college on at least 13 different occasions and here they are.
