Last week, the NYU club Women and Youth Supporting Each Other (WYSE) hosted a tampon and pad drive in the lobby of the Kimmel Student Center as part of their mission to "empower young women by providing the resources and support necessary to make positive life choices and create community change." The club was collecting pads, tampons, and donations to help support homeless women who often have to choose between eating and having healthy hygiene.
While their final donation count has not been made public yet, posts on the Facebook page for the drive indicate that hundreds of tampons and pads were donated along with an unknown amount of Venmo donations. The women running the booth took the opportunity to be visible about menstruation and sexual health while also giving people the chance to be of service to the homeless community in ways that are not often done.Congrats to NYU WYSE on a successful drive and best of luck in your future projects.
