Memorial Day is celebrated across the country in different ways in order to honor people who have served our nation. It is a day to remember people who have gone through some of the most grueling, unimaginable circumstances to protect their loved ones miles and countries away. Soldiers are the bravest people I know, so thank you for being the ones to protect everyone back home
Everyone celebrates this holiday in their own unique way because everyone chooses to remember differently. Even if you don’t personally know someone who served or lost their life in the service, try to take some time to remember that there are people out there, complete strangers, who were willing to fight for you and keep you safe without even knowing you; they have made the biggest sacrifice a person can make so that you can continue living your life.
On days like Memorial Day, it’s also important to remember that these soldiers were people and they had families; thank and remember the families as well as those who physically served.
So many people spend the day grilling, launching fireworks and attending parades. All of this can be a celebration of the lives that were lost, even if they aren’t laying flowers on graves. Personally, I’ve done both and either way, you’re honoring the people who have fought for you because you’re celebrating life. So many soldiers wanted nothing more than for other people to live their lives.
On Memorial Day, I’d like to say thank you to all of those who have served and have kept our country safe. Thank you for everything that you’ve done for us. Also, thank you to all of the military families out there who have served as well, even if it wasn’t on the battlefield.
