Muhammad Ali was an Olympic and World Champion boxer. He was born in 1942, and Sports Illustrated dubbed him "Sportsman of the Century" for the 20th century in 1999. He started this incredible career when he won his first professional fight in 1960. From 1960 to 1963, he had a record of 19-0 with a total of 15 knockouts! Not only was he an icon to so many athletes and fans, but he also was full of memorable quotes.

1. "Friendship is the hardest thing in the world to explain. It's not something you learn in school. But if you haven't learned the meaning of friendship, you really haven't learned anything."

This is a great quote because we are told that friendship is something that is hard to grasp the idea of, but if you don't know what it i is then you haven't learned anything from this world. It is easily one of the biggest parts of the lives we live every day!

2. "Hating people because of their color is wrong. And it doesn't matter which color does the hating. It's just plain wrong."

This is a deep quote because it allows us to realize that even an amazing boxer could see that people had race tensions, and he wanted everyone to realize that it was wrong. No matter who was "hating" or being hated, it was ultimately wrong.

3. "He who is not courageous enough to take risks will accomplish nothing in life."

This is saying that if you don't have the amount of brave and boldness to take risks in your life, you will never accomplish anything. Life is made of risks and they are meant for people to take them and to better themselves based upon that.

4. "If you ever dream of beating me you'd better wake up and apologize."

This quote means that no matter what, Muhammad Ali knew he was the best and no matter what anyone told him, he was going to win. He had complete confidence and wasn't afraid to show it.

5. "If they can make penicillin out of moldy bread, they can sure make something out of you."

This quote shows that there is hope for everyone and no matter what you aspire to be, you can be made something. Muhammad Ali never gave up, and neither should you!

Raising the minimum wage to a livable wage would not only benefit workers and their families, it would also have positive impacts on the economy and society. Studies have shown that by increasing the minimum wage, poverty and inequality can be reduced by enabling workers to meet their basic needs and reducing income disparities.

I come from a low-income family. A family, like many others in the United States, which has lived paycheck to paycheck. My family and other families in my community have been trying to make ends meet by living on the minimum wage. We are proof that it doesn't work.

April Ludgate

Every college student knows and understands the struggle of forcing themselves to continue to care about school. Between the piles of homework, the hours of studying and the painfully long lectures, the desire to dropout is something that is constantly weighing on each and every one of us, but the glimmer of hope at the end of the tunnel helps to keep us motivated. While we are somehow managing to stay enrolled and (semi) alert, that does not mean that our inner-demons aren't telling us otherwise, and who is better to explain inner-demons than the beloved April Ludgate herself? Because of her dark-spirit and lack of filter, April has successfully been able to describe the emotional roller-coaster that is college on at least 13 different occasions and here they are.
