When Melania Trump walked on the stage at the 2016 Republican Convention just a couple of days ago many waited and watched to see what she would say and do. Unlike most spouses to possible presidents of the United States Melania Trump hasn’t been caught too much in the crossfire of the media. Rather the media is focusing on why she isn’t in the spotlight. Unlike Michelle Obama or Hillary Clinton who influenced and advocated for their spouses while they were running for president, Melania has been a bit of a no show. That was until the Republican Convention. Her presence and promise of a speech made many wonder what will come from it. Until many realized they’ve already heard her speech before, at the 2008 Democratic Convention by Michelle Obama.
Now, there has been much confusion when it comes to the topic. The Trump campaign chair, Paul Manafort, claimed there was no plagiarism while others claimed that the speech was obviously plagiarized. And then there are some that claim the act was done on purpose.
Whether you think it was on purpose or not. Whether you think Melania Trump should be held responsible for what happened or not. No one can deny the amazing memes that have come from this.
In case you missed them here are some of the funniest memes I had the chance of seeing over the past couple of days since that dramatic night.
1. The “I clearly didn’t write this but I’m going to act like I did anyway” meme.
I mean, it was word for word in some parts of her speech (if you want to call it her speech to begin with).
3. The “I plagiarize other people's work as well” meme.
I mean, these two are just great.
Despite all the drama surrounding Melania Trump's speech at the Republican Convention and everyone's various opinions surrounding the issues can we all take one moment to just appreciate the brilliance it took to make light of something so bold? These are just a few of my favorite memes I've seen over the past couple of days, there are many many more. At least at the end of the day we can hope that despite everyone's opinion on the issues, we can step back from our views and just laugh. So thank you internet for giving us multiple chances to make light of this event.
