Let's be real for a moment, has there ever been a day where you aimlessly scrolled through your feed on Twitter, Instagram, Facebook, or whichever social media platform of your choice, and not come across a single meme?
I know I can't even remember a time when memes were not part of everyday life.
Our social media-obsessed generations have seen an opportunity for further self-expression, communication, and relationship-building and figured out a way to relate them to almost everything.
Memes have become one of the many elements that make up the voice of our generation. With millions of memes and gifs out there in the world, it's not too hard to stumble across one that matches your mood or relates to you specifically.
But those ones that "speak" to me most are fashion-related and reference everything from pinnacle points in my fashion journey to what it's like just getting dressed on a daily basis.
If you're on the more stylish end of the spectrum or would go as far to say fashion is "your calling", these memes are right up your alley.
1. Over the top at all times
Are you that friend that's always slightly "overdressed" compared to everyone else?
I take any opportunity I can to be a little bit extra. I'd rather turn heads for being more dressed up than everyone else than for being underdressed. It makes you feel confident and you can walk around like you the own place.
Like Rihanna said herself "Even as a child I remember thinking... she can beat me, but she cannot beat my outfit." Whether it's a trip to the grocery store or to a five-star restaurant, Rock your look girl!
2. Never ready on time
I relate to this one on a whole different level.
I'm not sure what it is but no matter how early I start getting ready, I almost always find myself running late. I don't think you should rush through getting dressed, especially when it's for an important event.
You should take your time, enjoy yourself and pay attention to all the details. It makes me feel a bit better that I'm not the only one struggling with this problem.
3. Way too excited for fall
Admit it, we've all been there.
Summer is great but there's something so much better about the way you can dress when the weather is just a bit cooler.
I know the feeling of having some pieces sitting in my closet and just dying to pull them out as soon as the temperature drops.
Your fashion senses start tingling and you just have to do what feels right. (Maybe don't go as far as North with the faux fur, but you catch my drift.)
4. Caring too much about minor details
Having a knack for paying strict attention to detail can be both a blessing and a curse.
Sometimes you end up having an awesome look, other times being too picky only causes more stress. However, there's nothing wrong with never settling for less than the best.
5. Overspending
Whether it's holiday shopping or just an impromptu trip to the mall, when it comes to clothing, accessories or beauty products, fashionistas seem to see their cash disappear into thin air.
The hardest part is always checking your bank account to see how much you've spent, or in most cases, what's left.
6. Nothing to wear
The notorious "closet full clothes, nothing to wear" moment. There's so much content dedicated to this idea alone, proving it's a common scenario.
We've already determined that a large part of the fashion-forward girl's budget goes towards more clothes. So why can't we find anything to wear?
Many times I think if I look hard enough, I would definitely be able to find something, maybe still with the tags left on, or come up with a completely new combination... but most of the time I end up choosing something all black and calling it a day.
So whether you're constantly struggling to find something to new to wear, or always the overdressed one at the party, I hope this has helped you find some comedic relief. You should check out @MyTherapistSays for even more relatable memes.
Whatever the case may be, I hope it brightens your day just a little to know you're not alone. We're all on the same fashionista struggle bus with you. Stay strong.
