The United States is a world superpower, but it's also known as the melting pot. We are a land full of diversity. Where people from all over the world can come and live. A place where people of different religious and ethnic backgrounds can live. A place where there several different languages are spoken. I love that about America. I love that I could walk down the street, and meet people from several different backgrounds. I love that different cultures can come together. There are times where come together, but there are also times where we are divided.
For a country that takes pride in being diverse and individualistic, we can't be more divided over things that bring us together; race, politics, religion, clothing, food, etc.. It seems that we are always offended by something that someone said or did.
We need to start appreciating people from every culture, race, political party, and so on. We may have our differences, but so what? So what if your white, black, yellow, Muslim, Jewish, Hindu, Republican, Democrat, and so on. We're all human beings. We're all going to be different. But despite our differences, we should be able to come together, and not just for the hard times. Because if we can come together during the hardships of this country, we can come together during the good times too.
When something bad happens, we shouldn't pray about it for a couple of days, and move on. We have to start fixing the problems that are making us so divided. Because we can't just sit back and do nothing anymore. Because just complaining about it, isn't going to change anything. We need to start bringing awareness to the problems that we need to fix and come together, and actually, start fixing them. We can't put them on the back burner anymore and hope that they magically get fixed. We can't keep putting the problems in the back of our minds and hope that someone else fixes the problem. Because it's not going to take just one person to change the problems that we face. It's going to take all of us. Whether we help in a big way or a small way.
Now, I'm not saying that we all have to like each other. I'm stating that we have to stop hating each other because hate gets us nowhere. We're not always going to get along, and I know that. But hate tears us apart, and it just makes it worse. We need to start listening to each other and work together for the greater good. Nothing is going to get done if we keep fighting because that won't solve anything.
We can do this.
