An original sonnet from my high school days.

This poem is an original sonnet that i wrote my senior of year in high school. It took a lot of patience and many drafts. It came out really well and I hope you enjoy it.

Yesterday, I heard a beautiful melody,

This melody came and went like the a gentle breeze.

The melody seemed to say keep the harmony

Do not worry about the negativity others seize.

Wake up from your dream, they said, filled with hate

You will never find true love you will always be desolate

We are stronger than you are and you will meet your true fate.

Your love will fail and your reason to live will degenerate.

I refuse to listen to the naysayers and choose to love with all my heart

What I have with my love is understanding and trust.

We have had our issues, but we choose to let nothing tear us apart.

We love the little differences about each other and are never biased.

Our love is strong and full of hope,

You should believe in love or go sit and mope.

For the entirety of my high school career, I was always seen as the goody-two-shoes. I never got in trouble with a teacher, I kept stellar grades, and when I wasn't doing extracurricular activities, I was at home studying. Even when I did go out, it was usually with a bunch of fellow band geeks. The night would end before 11:00 PM and the only controversial activity would be a fight based on who unfairly won a round of Apples-to-Apples when someone else clearly had a better card (I promise I'm not still holding a grudge).

Now that I'm officially an adult, I want to pursue some new things. I want to experience life in a way that I never allowed myself to do prior to entering college. These are the years that I'm supposed to embark on a journey of self-discovery, so what better way to do that than to create a bucket list?
