If you haven't heard by now, Prince Harry has finally found his perfect match in one of the most magical love stories of our time that I still can't believe sometimes is real.
He was introduced to Meghan Markle through a mutual friend on a blind date, and the rest is history from there. The two hit it off right away with their shared love for charity work, traveling and children, but that isn't what makes this love story special. Markle is biracial, a divorcee, and an American actress (she as of recent has retired from acting). All of these attributes seem as though they would traditionally not have been accepted by the monarchy, but since we live in such a modern time (and Queen Elizabeth II is super cool), Markle was welcomed with open arms into the royal family.
It is truly a fairytale like no other, and while the focus may seem to be on Prince Harry (because, well, he is the royal one here), all eyes are on Markle for her ambitious nature and empowering past. If you don't know much about the new Duchess of Sussex or if you just simply can't be cured of the post-Royal Wedding hype, then take a read at some of the best quotes Markle has (yet) to offer the world.
1. "Women make up more than half of the world's population and potential, so it is neither just nor practical for their voices, for OUR voices, to go unheard at the highest levels of decision-making."
2. "With fame comes opportunity, but it also includes responsibility – to advocate and share, to focus less on glass slippers and more on pushing through glass ceilings. And, if I'm lucky enough, to inspire."
3. "I've never wanted to be a lady who lunches; I've always wanted to be a woman who works. And this type of work is what feeds my soul."
4. "It's been pretty incredible to see what happens when you start believing you are enough."
5. "Catty is not cool. I can't think of anything less becoming than a man who talks about people behind their backs."
6. "Thoughts become things, so it’s important to stay as positive as possible. It’s crazy how it trickles into everything in your life.”
7. "It is said that girls with dreams become women with vision. May we empower each other to carry out such vision- because it isn't enough to simply talk of equality. One must believe it. And it isn't enough to simply believe in it. One must work at it. Let us work at it. Together. Starting now."
8. "We’re in love. I’m sure there will be a time when we will have to come forward and present ourselves and have stories to tell, but I hope what people will understand is that this is our time. This is for us. It’s part of what makes it so special, that it’s just ours. But we’re happy. Personally, I love a great love story."
9. "Reflecting on where I came from helps me to appreciate and balance what I have now."
10. "Make a choice: continue living your life feeling muddled in this abyss of self-misunderstanding, or you find your identity independent of it. You push for color-blind casting; and you draw your own box. You introduce yourself as who you are, not what color your parents happen to be."
11. "I was not a girl who grew up buying $100 candles. I was the girl who ran out of gas on her way to an audition."
12. "Change can be really good – as long as your character is intact."
13. "Some women are able to wake up looking effortlessly chic – as though a bevy of fashion fairies twisted their low-lit locks into a messy chignon while they slept."*
*and this is coming from a PRINCESS. Oh, the irony.
