Lead vocalist Luke Spiller, guitarist Adam Slack, bassist Jed Elliott, and drummer Gethin Davies make up:
If you don't recognize their name, it's probably because they're only getting big in the United States as of recently. However, The Struts have been sweeping the UK and neighboring countries by storm since 2014. And you may have seen them perform on Jimmy Kimmel this past August or heard their hit single; "Could Have Been Me" that reached top 5 on the U.S. alternative and active rock charts.
So what's the big deal?
In short, their look, attitude, and, most importantly, their sound is undeniably classic.
It's like this band took a time machine ride to the 21st century and graced us with their 70s rock sound. They've been compared to the likes of Queen and The Rolling Stones. And even lead vocalist of The Struts, Luke Spiller, has been called the musical love child of Freddie Mercury and Mick Jagger: two legends in rock music.
It's also important to note these comparisons to old rock and love child talk is not to belittle The Struts' music or success, but instead, to validate it. In fact, The Struts opened two years ago for The Rolling Stones in front of about 75,000 people in Paris and have been gaining a following ever since. So they aren't just any wannabe rock band with stylish clothes and spunk; they have raw talent and put out anthemic music that the world is finding difficult not to fall in love with.
The Struts truly hold their own and do rock music justice. They just released their debut album, "Everybody Wants," in March and aretouring the U.S. this spring and through the summer. So give them a listen and definitely keep an eye on this band. They may be just beginning, but they're confidently earning their spot as the favorite glam-rock band of this generation.
