This week’s Meet the Greeks are Alpha Tau Omega junior Matt Krawczyk and Delta Gamma’s junior Calin Cochran!meet the greeks Matt is majoring in Industrial Engineering and Calin is majoring in Pre-Professional Health Science/Pre-Physicians Assistant.

1. Where are you from/why did you choose Purdue?

Calin: I’m from Colfax, Indiana. Since I have always planned on going into the medical field, IU was the school I had my eye on. However, when I came to Purdue for my college visit, the at-home, close-knit, family feeling after being on campus for just one afternoon won me over.

Matt: Both my parents are Purdue alums and they held the checkbook.

2. What are your Greek-related extracurriculars?

Calin: Last semester & the semester prior to that, I was DG's VP of Foundation. As a member of our Chapter Management Team, my role as VP Foundation was to organize and coordinate our chapter's community service activities. I also oversaw our Anchor Splash philanthropy and DG's Lectureship!

Matt: Currently my chapter’s philanthropy chair. Been on Exec Board for 2 semesters.

3. Have any others?

Calin: College of Health & Human Science Ambassador, Caduceus Club - Medical Mission Trip to Ecuador, Pre-PA Club, 2014 Indy 500 Festival Princess

Matt: President of the Institute of Industrial Engineers, my major’s professional and social organization

4. What's your favorite thing about Purdue Greek Life?

Calin: I appreciate how interconnected all of our Greek Life is at Purdue. All the houses are happy to support one another!

Matt: The variety of people. I’m always meeting Greeks with different interests and backgrounds.

5. What's your favorite Purdue tradition?

Calin: The Hello Walk is my favorite Purdue tradition. I love saying hi to anyone & everyone!
Matt: The “I Am an American” speech before football games. Still sends a chill down my spine.

6. Name three things on your bucket list.

Calin: Complete a tri-athalon, go scuba-diving, & take a ride in a hot air balloon

Matt: Race camels across the Sahara, Eat a pound of pretzels in one sitting, Run the Chicago marathon

7. Where do you see yourself after graduation?

Calin: After I graduate from Purdue, I plan on going to PA school. Once I complete my education there, I would love to work as a Physicians Assistant in an Emergency Department. Somewhere in the midst of my career, I'd like to start my family & begin raising the yard full of children I hope to have!

Matt: Traveling lots, raising a family, becoming a CEO (in that order).

8. What's one fun fact about yourself?

Calin: I am on a team of reigning champions of my county's pig wrestling competition that occurs at our county fair!

Matt: I’ve visited 36 states (soon to be 50).

New year, new semester, not the same old thing. This semester will be a semester to redeem all the mistakes made in the previous five months.

1. I will wake up (sorta) on time for class.

Let's face it, last semester you woke up with enough time to brush your teeth and get to class and even then you were about 10 minutes late and rollin' in with some pretty unfortunate bed head. This semester we will set our alarms, wake up with time to get ready, and get to class on time!

And so it begins.

1. Walk in motivated and ready to rock

Camping out at the library is not for the faint of heart. You need to go in as a warrior. You usually have brought supplies (laptop, chargers, and textbooks) and sustenance (water, snacks, and blanket/sweatpants) since the battle will be for an undetermined length of time. Perhaps it is one assignment or perhaps it's four. You are motivated and prepared; you don’t doubt the assignment(s) will take time, but you know it couldn’t be that long.

December... it's full of finals, due dates, Mariah Carey, and the holidays. It's the worst time of the year, but the best because after finals, you get to not think about classes for a month and catch up on all the sleep you lost throughout the semester. But what's worse than finals week is the last week of classes, when all the due dates you've put off can no longer be put off anymore.

Thanksgiving break is over and Christmas is just around the corner and that means, for most college students, one hellish thing — finals week. It's the one time of year in which the library becomes over populated and mental breakdowns are most frequent. There is no way to avoid it or a cure for the pain that it brings. All we can do is hunker down with our books, order some Dominos, and pray that it will all be over soon. Luckily, we are not alone in this suffering. To prove it, here are just a few of the many deranged thoughts that go through a college student's mind during finals week.

I know every college student has daily thoughts throughout their day. Whether you're walking on campus or attending class, we always have thoughts running a mile a minute through our heads. We may be wondering why we even showed up to class because we'd rather be sleeping, or when the professor announces that we have a test and you have an immediate panic attack.
