As most people have heard Robert Bentley has resigned as Alabama's governor. Bentley has been the center of a sex scandal, which he failed to address during his resignation. Bentley had two misdemeanor charges against him: failing to file a major contribution report and knowingly converting campaign contributions to personal use, which he was found guilty of.

We now welcome Governor Kay Ivey. She was sworn in on April 10, 2017. Ivey is Alabama's first Republican Woman Governor and Alabama's second woman to serve as governor. Growing up, Ivey worked hard on her father's farm, so she knows the value of hard work. She also was taught to value faith, family, and community by her parents. Kay Ivey graduated Auburn University with a bachelor's degree and was a member of Alpha Gamma Delta. She has been a high school teacher, a bank officer, and an Assistant Director at the Alabama Development Office.

Ivey became State Treasurer on January 20, 2003 until January 17, 2011. She was preceded by Lucy Baxley and succeeded by Young Boozer. As treasurer, Ivey put the state's finances online for the people to see. She also oversaw the PACT program, Prepaid Affordable College Tuition. Ivey was state treasurer for two terms.

“The Ivey administration will be open, it will be transparent and it will be honest,” Ms. Ivey said.

Ivey was not able to run for her third term for state treasurer. She then became the first Republican woman Lieutenant Governor on January 17, 2011 until April 10, 2017. The Governor was Robert Bentley. She was preceded by Jim Folsom. She was lieutenant governor for two terms.

What has Kay Ivey done to help our state?

Kay has worked on growing jobs, helping with child hunger, and increasing STEM education. She led Commission to improve state government by reducing government spending and finding efficiencies. This helped save the state of Alabama one billion dollars.

What is she a member of?

Kay Ivey is an Alpha Gamma Delta alumni, a member of the First Baptist Church of Montgomery, the Montgomery Rotary Club, the Board of Directors of the Montgomery YMCA, Chair of the Military Stability Commission, and national chair of the Aerospace States Association.

What awards has Ivey received?

2015 ALFA Service to Agriculture Award, Newmax’s 50 Most Influential Female Republican in the country, and American Institute of Aeronautics and Astronautics (AIAA) 2016 Public Service Award.

27 Things 'The Office' Has Taught Us

"The Office" is a mockumentary based on everyday office life featuring love triangles, silly pranks and everything in between. It can get pretty crazy for just an average day at the office.

When you were little, your parents probably told you television makes your brain rot so you wouldn't watch it for twelve straight hours. However, I feel we can learn some pretty valuable stuff from television shows. "The Office," while a comedy, has some pretty teachable moments thrown in there. You may not know how to react in a situation where a co-worker does something crazy (like put your office supplies in jello) but thanks to "The Office," now you'll have an idea how to behave ifsomething like that should happen.

Here are just a few of the things that religious Office watchers can expect to learn.

High School And College Sucked All Of The Fun Out Of Reading

Books were always about understanding for me, about learning the way someone else sees, about connection.

High School And College Sucked All Of The Fun Out Of Reading

I keep making this joke whenever the idea of books is brought up: "God, I wish I knew how to read." It runs parallel to another stupid phrase, as I watch my friends struggle through their calculus classes late at night in our floor lounge: "I hope this is the year that I learn to count." They're both truly idiotic expressions, but, when I consider the former, I sometimes wonder if there's some truth to it.
