How many times have you been frustrated with how you look? I don't care what your gender is, I'm sure you've looked in the mirror at least once and found something that you didn't like that you couldn't change immediately. There's hope: everyone has had these thoughts, probably even Beyonce (and we all know how perfect she is). So what can we do? Aren't these thoughts unavoidable? Probably, but what's more important is what you do when you have these thoughts: you have to be positive.
We only get one body, so no matter what it looks like, it's important to love the skin you're in, even if it's not conventionally attractive. There's even a name for this kind of thinking: body positivity. Yeah, it's a real thing. And no, it's not just for plus sized individuals, it's literally for anyone who has a body, so unless you're a disembodied light being or a ghost, this is something for you.
Leading this movement is self-acclaimed plus sized model and feminist, Tess Holliday.
After breaking into the modeling game and flaunting her curves, Holliday decided to do something to help young men and women who were struggling with their self image. So she founded the #effyourbeautystandards movement and gathered a team of seven women and one man who spread the message of self love along side her. Their instagram account has 235k followers and almost 3000 posts, all inspiring their followers to love the skin they're in. So let's meet her team:
harnaamkaur
Harnaam rose above the bullies from her school years who teased her for her weight and, later as a teen, for a beard. She was diagnosed with Polycystic ovary syndrom, which resulted in her looking quite different from the rest of her peers. But Harnaam has come to love her body and shares her story to inspire others: "My body is worthy of me, it is loved and adored by me. My body isn't perfect for people of the world, but who the fuck cares, my body is perfect for me."
nataliemeansnice
Natalie shares her life without apologies and loves who she is. She wants the people around her to be as comfortable in their skin as she is in hers: "We all struggle with the same things from all parts of the globe... we are all so fucking human and it's amazing."
rainbowchatman
Rainbow is living her life and doing it well. She is a makeup artist and fashion blogger and her hair is AH-mazing. She's always changing things up, so right now her beautiful mane is rainbow: "Whenever I need to rid myself of bad juju I almost always end up with a new hairdo. This is my first time with a rainbow mane and I recommend that everyone try dying their hair with a rainbow accent at least once in their life. It's my most liberating "hairvolution" yet. ;-)"
alisongo
Alison likes to keep her private life private, so I'm going to respect that by not posting a photo of her. However, Alison is still a great body positivity advocate, urging her followers that mental toughness and determination can help you overcome any obstacle.
curvesbecomeher
Aarti Dubey is EYBS's rep from Asia and she embraces this entirely. She is continually fighting for her and her fellow plus sized individuals in Asia because it's even harder in that part of the world for plus sized individuals to live their lives the way they want and advocates for love of self and other: "Embrace the body you have, illuminate the hearts of those around you with kindness, resonate with sentiments of goodwill."
toodalookatie
Katie Goulet is a fashion and beauty blogger from Canada and is unabashedly adorable. She writes about her daily life and usually impart something inspiring: "Look great, feel great and always feel enough because you are all of those things!"

He's on a mission to ensure that everyone feels comfortable in their own clothes and is determined to make people realize that everyone struggles. He is truly an artist: "Your body is the blank canvas and your clothes are the medium. Whether it be the shirt, pants, shoes or accessories worn; the outfit is the art making process and the final product is your fashionable creation."
