Meet The Cabinet

Donald Trump's new cabinet leaves a lot to be desired.

As of Saturday, the United States has a new administration. It's incredibly important to know and understand who is in charge of your country. So, here are some of the people who are on, or have been nominated for Donald Trump's cabinet.

Donald Trump - President: He thinks mentally ill people are great in bed. He thinks he can assault women because he's famous. He verbally attacked the family of a fallen soldier because they were Muslim. He thinks women don't have the right to choose what happens with their bodies. He thinks climate change is fake. He incessantly tweets about things that have absolutely no importance. He used the deaths of 49 people, who are just like me, to promote his Islamophobic agenda. He is backed by the KKK. He wants to cut funding from the arts in schools.

Mike Pence - Vice President: He thinks conversion therapy is acceptable. He also believes in electrocution to force people to be straight. He cut funding to places like Planned Parenthood and enabled an HIV outbreak. (For more information see: http://www.huffingtonpost.com/entry/mike-pence-ind...)

Betsy DeVos - Secretary of Education: She has never set foot in a public school. She doesn't believe in public school. She thinks public school teachers are overpaid. She refused to agree to help prevent sexual assault on college campuses.

Jeff Sessions - Attorney General: He has a history of racism. Martin Luther King Jr.'s wife wrote the government saying he was racist and appointing him as a federal judge would undo all of the work her husband has done.

Rex Tillerson - Secretary of State: He is chief executive of ExxonMobil, and has been since 2006. ExxonMobil is one of the largest oil companies in the world. Therefore, he will block and destroy any efforts made toward climate change regulation. He can't bring himself to say that gay rights are human rights.

Ben Carson - Secretary of Housing and Urban Development: He has absolutely no experience in housing and development whatsoever. He also thinks people won't be in poverty if they "just try harder." Working with Trump, they already got rid of the FHA fee reduction for poor homebuyers.

Rick Perry - Secretary of Energy: He originally pledged to abolish the energy department altogether, but has said that was a mistake now that he knows something about the department. He only thinks some of climate change was caused by humans. He refused to admit that climate change is a crisis.

Andrew Puzder - Secretary of Labor: He has expressed support for the ads that have objectified and sexualized women's bodies in the fast food industry. He is quoted as saying, "We believe in putting hot models in our commercials because ugly ones don't sell burgers."

That's not even the whole cabinet.

The President generally picks his cabinet based on people he likes and agrees with. He picks people who will best push the presidential agenda. Judging by these picks, that agenda isn't looking too hot. I want focus on climate change. I want minorities and women treated equally. And I'm going to push for it, whatever it takes.

New year, new semester, not the same old thing. This semester will be a semester to redeem all the mistakes made in the previous five months.

1. I will wake up (sorta) on time for class.

Let's face it, last semester you woke up with enough time to brush your teeth and get to class and even then you were about 10 minutes late and rollin' in with some pretty unfortunate bed head. This semester we will set our alarms, wake up with time to get ready, and get to class on time!

And so it begins.

1. Walk in motivated and ready to rock

Camping out at the library is not for the faint of heart. You need to go in as a warrior. You usually have brought supplies (laptop, chargers, and textbooks) and sustenance (water, snacks, and blanket/sweatpants) since the battle will be for an undetermined length of time. Perhaps it is one assignment or perhaps it's four. You are motivated and prepared; you don’t doubt the assignment(s) will take time, but you know it couldn’t be that long.
