Meet Austin Daniel
Sebastian Smith

My name is Austin Daniel. I am a country/pop artist from Cincinnati, Ohio. Music has always been such a big part of my life ever since I could remember. Especially country music. Ever since I was able to talk, I've sang. Growing up in a small town in Southeastern Indiana, everyone knew everyone. I was always seen singing in the school's choir or at local talent shows. I'm sure it got obnoxious to some people, but it was passion. My dream. To sing, perform, and now, to write music.

Before I really began to pursue in what I hope will be my career in music, I had always had a passion for writing as well. I used to write about everything. As an elementary student, I would keep a journal that I would write in almost daily. Explaining what I did throughout the day and what was to come. Getting older, I began to write stories and even later, I would try to write my own books. I believe that my passion to write was what really led me to begin to write songs.

My biggest inspiration in the music world would have to be Carrie Underwood. I remember watching her perform "How Great Thou Art" with Vince Gill on ACM's Girl's Night Out in 2011. After her performance that night, I remember just completely falling in love with her and telling myself, "I want to be like her when I grow up." Her voice is so beautifully powerful and her passion for country music is so tremendously noticeable. She also has one of the biggest hearts in this world. Always so kind, caring and constantly giving back. I would have to say that my music resembles the sound of other country artists like Kelsea Ballerini, Hunter Hayes, Sam Hunt, and Florida Georgia Line.

I am so honored to have been asked to be part of Odyssey's Music, Festival's, and Concert Coverage. Both music and writing have been such an important part of my life and something that I plan to make a lifetime career of. Over the rest of my time here at Odyssey, you can expect weekly posts of everything about music. I will be sharing my musical journey with you all by posting videos of myself performing covers and some of my own music as well. I will also be posting articles on almost everything and anything going on in the music world and my musical career. Plus, so much more. I am looking forward to having so much fun and gaining a lot of experience here at Odyssey!

If you would like to follow my journey, you can follow my Instagram and Twitter accounts - @austindbmusic. I also have a YouTube channel and a SoundCloud account - Austin Daniel.

As college students, we are all familiar with the horror show that is course registration week. Whether you are an incoming freshman or selecting classes for your last semester, I am certain that you can relate to how traumatic this can be.

1. When course schedules are released and you have a conflict between two required classes.

Bonus points if it is more than two.

Raising the minimum wage to a livable wage would not only benefit workers and their families, it would also have positive impacts on the economy and society. Studies have shown that by increasing the minimum wage, poverty and inequality can be reduced by enabling workers to meet their basic needs and reducing income disparities.

I come from a low-income family. A family, like many others in the United States, which has lived paycheck to paycheck. My family and other families in my community have been trying to make ends meet by living on the minimum wage. We are proof that it doesn't work.

April Ludgate

Every college student knows and understands the struggle of forcing themselves to continue to care about school. Between the piles of homework, the hours of studying and the painfully long lectures, the desire to dropout is something that is constantly weighing on each and every one of us, but the glimmer of hope at the end of the tunnel helps to keep us motivated. While we are somehow managing to stay enrolled and (semi) alert, that does not mean that our inner-demons aren't telling us otherwise, and who is better to explain inner-demons than the beloved April Ludgate herself? Because of her dark-spirit and lack of filter, April has successfully been able to describe the emotional roller-coaster that is college on at least 13 different occasions and here they are.
