Meet ASU Odyssey: Mia Marquez
Mia Marquez

Hello everyone! My name is Mia Marquez, and I just joined Arizona State University Odyssey as a reporter. I am in my second year at ASU, double majoring in journalism (with an emphasis on broadcast) and political science. One day I hope to become a political correspondent for a news network in New York!

Although I do enjoy reporting on politics, I also love all things books, TV, movies and music — especially Harry Styles! I plan on covering a variety of topics from entertainment to activism and ASU student life.

Outside of the Odyssey, I am a part of the National Association of Hispanic Journalists and The Chic Daily. Last year I reported for the Cronkite Cut, but this year I am looking forward to improving my writing skills. I also served as a student ambassador for the Walter Cronkite School of Journalism and Mass Communication. Additionally, I am a part of the Chi Omega sorority and love socializing with friends!

I am a native Arizonan, but one day I hope to travel all around the world! Some of my hobbies include going to concerts, shopping and trying new foods. I cannot wait to start sharing some of my stories!

I thought senioritis in high school was rough until I became a college senior about to go into the real world. I'm supposed to have everything figured out, right? It takes a little while to get used to not seeing your high school best friends every day. Going away to college causes a lot of changes, but one thing that will never change is my love for my high school BFFs, and the texts that I get from them. Here are just 8 of the texts I get from them on the weekly:

College is filled with many things, and we're so often lectured to make the right decisions as we head out on our own into the college life. But sometimes it's necessary to indulge in some guilty pleasures as well as just doing things because you can. And honestly, a lot of the time it's inevitable. College is no piece of cake that's for sure, so it's okay to do some things you deep down know you shouldn't....once in a while anyways.
