The Media's Inexcusable Double Standard

Clinton could be benefiting from the media's double standard for the two candidates.

An estimated more than 20,000 people showed up Tuesday to a Trump rally in Loudon County, Virginia. Wow! However, thanks to the mainstream media, you'll most likely only hear about how Trump "booted" a crying infant from the rally.

It is highly obvious that most people covering the campaign for the 2016 election refuse to give Donald Trump a chance but will do anything to make the former Secretary of State, Hillary Clinton, look fabulous.

Trump's "baby booting" story makes him look like a MONSTER.

What he actually said was, "Don't worry about that baby. I love babies...Don't worry about it. I love babies. I hear that babying crying; I like it. What a baby. What a beautiful baby. Don't worry. Don't worry. The mom's running around like--Don't worry about it, you know. It's young and beautiful and healthy and that's what we want."

This sounds like a sweet thing to say..especially to a probably embarrassed parent.

As the crying continued, Trump addressed the child and her mom once again by saying, "Actually, I was only kidding. You can get the baby out of here."

Considering how Trump uses sarcasm as a mechanism of charm, this should come as no surprise to America. But the media won't report it that way, because it doesn't fit the Liberal reports of what happened. Only by hearing or seeing the entire event will you understand what truly happened.

One set of rules for Hillary Clinton and another set for everyone else is not only how she's campaigning in this election but also how she lives her life. The example above is one of many that proves this fact. The latest example could be the sudden demands that Trump's daughter, Ivanka Trump, speak on how her father treats women and sexual harassment in the workplace. Some of the same reporters demanding "answers" from Ivanka have blatantly chosen not to ask similar questions to Chelsea Clinton whose father had sexual relations in the workplace (Why do we have to remind people of this?) with a coworker young enough to be his own daughter. As if this wasn't bad enough, he then lied about it the American people when he was caught. Let's be honest, if the shoe was on the other foot the media would be diving at the queue to ask Ivanka what she thought about the allegations her father was a rapist.

No one is making this stuff up. The media is supposed to be impartial. Sadly it isn't. In situations like this the only thing you can do is use the internet to get as many sources as possible. You should really get to know your candidates so you can choose to make a wise decision on who you want to run the country for the next four years. Many of the decisions that will need to be made here shortly make this election one of the most crucial in a while. The life and future of our nation depends on it.

This semester I started my journey as a member of my University's Alumni Outreach Team. This means a lot of things, but primarily it means that I get to make phone calls to parents and alumni two nights a week to update contact information, collect things like business cards and volunteer hours, and even ask for money.
